TREASURES OF THE BIBLE, Week of May 15 to 21, 2023, "Jehovah rewards the mighty", Prepared Speech.

TREASURES OF THE BIBLE, May 15-21-2023, "Jehovah rewards the brave", Prepared Speech.

“Jehovah Rewards the Mighty Ones” (10 min.)

"Be strong and courageous... Jehovah your God is with you." Jehovah said to Moses. Serving Jehovah makes us happy, but with so many problems that exist today, how appropriate are Jehovah's words to Joshua, without a doubt, to get ahead we need faith, but above all courage.

Of course, we all want to be brave, but what can we do if we have the feeling that we are not so brave? Analyzing the example of the priest Jehoiada who had this quality will help us to have more faith and courage. Above all, when we see that apparently Jehovah supports those who put the divine will and the well-being of others before.

After the death of King Ahaziah, his mother, Athaliah, murdered almost all the heirs to the throne and proclaimed herself queen. But Jehoiada and Jehosabeat risked their lives to rescue and hide Jehoash, the only surviving son of Ahaziah, for 6 years. to the slaughter… Let's go to the account of 2 Chronicles 22:11,12.

WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 22:11,12.

However, Jehosabeat, the king's daughter, secretly took Jehoash son of Ahaziah away from the other king's sons whom they were going to kill. She put him with her nurse in a bedroom. Jehosabeat daughter of King Jehoram (she was the wife of the priest Jehoiadác and sister of Ahaziah) managed to keep him hidden from Athaliah and thus prevented him from killing him. 12 He stayed hidden with them in the house of the true God for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land.

Athaliah wanted to rule and that desire for power led her to kill her own grandchildren, and Jehoás, who was just a baby, survived the slaughter, due to the courage shown by the priest. Let us now see the account of number 2 Chronicles 23:1-11 and 23:14,15.

WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 23:14,15.

But Jehoiada the priest brought out the commanders of a hundred, those who were in command of the army, and said to them: “Take her out of the ranks and, if anyone follows her, kill him with the sword!” And it is that the priest had said "Do not kill her in the house of Jehovah." 15 So they seized her and, as soon as they came to the entrance of the Horse Gate of the king's house, they killed her there.

What a good example of courage Jehoiada left us, he acted like this so that Jehovah would become king, and prevent Athaliah from getting away with it. For such a situation, notice what happened in 2 Chronicles 24:15,16.

WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 24:15,16.

Satisfied after a long life, Jehoiadá died: he was 130 years old when he died. 16 So they buried him in the City of David along with the kings, because he had done good in Israel concerning the true God and his house.

Jehoiada had a very special honor: being buried with the kings. He being the only known person who received the distinction without belonging to the royal lineage. In the seventh year, this brave couple got Jehoash made king and Athaliah executed. In addition, thanks to the courage of Jehoiada and his wife, the royal line of David was preserved, through which he reached the Messiah.

Dear brothers, to meditate on this example of courage, we can ask ourselves the following questions: In what Fields or facets of my service to Jehovah would I like to be more courageous?

We have the honor of preaching the Kingdom message and making disciples. We are very grateful to also have the incomparable example of Jesus, who traveled from city to city and from village to village preaching and declaring the good news of the kingdom. Like him, we also need to have courage.

And we do it perhaps by speaking informally, in the metropolitan work with booths, on the telephone, perhaps offering study directly or through house-to-house preaching, when people are on the other side of the camera, or perhaps perhaps to our neighbors and relatives.

In any situation, if it is our case, let us pray, read our God for help. when some followers of Jesus who were being persecuted asked God for the courage to speak his word, he granted it. If you find it difficult to preach in any facet of our service because of timidity, ask Jehovah for more faith and above all courage, and he will give it to you without any doubt, and not only that but also his courage will be rewarded .
