TREASURES OF THE BIBLE, May 1-7-2023, “See others as Jehovah sees them” (10 min.), Prepared Speech.
“See Others as Jehovah Sees Them” (10 min.)
Imagine the following: We have passed the great tribulation, we have survived this one, and now you who are there receive a very important assignment: What is it about? leads to the New World, and who will not enter, this is a hypothetical example, but imagine that you have that authority to decide who in your congregation will pass and who will not.
The answer you give reveals how you look at others. Thank Jehovah that this decision is a hypothetical example, it does not depend on us imperfect human beings, nor on any human being here on earth. And that gives us peace because definitely, Jehovah sees things that we human beings do not see.
Jehovah sees the heart of the human being, we simply look at the external appearance, but Jehovah looks at what the heart is, we are going to see what happened to King Jehoshaphat. How did Jehovah see it differently, and what practical lessons does this leave for us as well? How can we imitate Jehovah? Firstly, we direct our attention to 2 Chronicles 18: 1-3, if he found it, please accompany me with the reading, he says like this:
WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 18:1-3.
Although Jehoshaphat had wealth and glory in abundance, he made a marriage alliance with Ahab. 2 So a few years later he went down to Ahab in Samaria.c Ahab sacrificed many sheep and cattle for himself and for the people who were with him, and he urged Jehoshaphat to attack Ramoth-Gilead. Then King Ahab of Israel said to King Jehoshaphat of Judah, "Will you go with me to Ramoth-Gilead?" He replied: "I will be with you, and my people will be with your people and will support you in the war."
So one of the worst decisions that Jehoshaphat could have made was to make a friendship and then a marriage with the daughter of this King Ahab. Basically she was going to be his mother-in-law and his mother-in-law was a witch who was not an Israelite, she was a Jezebel. Certainly the worst people he could have associated with, and this exposed him to significant danger. Because? Because when we see in the text that he was putting pressure on him to accompany him to this war, the interesting thing about the case is that he was pressured because he was his father-in-law and he had to support him, he was very close to losing his life, in that battle.
The people thought that he was the king of Israel and the enemies turned their attention to eliminating him, he prayed to Jehovah and out of undeserved kindness Jehovah helped him, and the enemies realized that he was not the king, but that he was a disguise, so to speak. What happened? So what did Jehovah think of this bad decision? here in 2 Chronicles 19:1-2 says, let's note what the message of Jehovah for this king Jehoshaphat:
WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 19:1,2.
Then King Jehoshaphat of Judah returned safely to his home in Jerusalem. 2 Jehub the son of Hanani, the man of visions, went out to meet King Jehoshaphat and said to him, “Do you think it is right for you to help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? That is why Jehovah is angry with you.
There we see the feeling of Jehovah, it was not the prophet, it was Jehovah's direct message, is it okay to help the wicked and love those who hate Jehovah? So Jehovah was very clear in conveying his outrage to Jehoshaphat. However, not everything was bad, we see here in 2 Chronicles 19:3, the text says:
WE ARE GOING TO READ 2 CHRONICLES 19:3.
However, good things have been found in you,a because you have removed the sacred poles from the land and have prepared your heart to* seek the true God.”
This is very important, Jehovah teaches us through this example that he looks beyond our faults, our defects, our mistakes, our bad decisions and who among us. In this life, who has no faults, has no mistakes, we have not made bad decisions, at some point. But Jehovah has in front of him, so to speak, our entire history and he is aware of the sacrifices that we have made for the Kingdom, for our brothers, sacrifices that we have made in private, that are not going to appear on a broadcast, or in an experience, from a magazine, but there is a record before Jehovah of those good deeds that we have done.
So Jehovah also focused on the good he had done and this makes us think, Jehovah is Jehovah, he is not a human being that one can appear in front of him, one image and in reality the essence is another, nobody to Jehovah you can fool him. No one can bribe or manipulate you mentions the Bible.
So this is an interesting principle as Jehovah focused on the positive that he had despite his mistake, this did not make Jehovah forget the good he had done. And what happened reminds us that despite our shortcomings, God will continue to love us if we make a heartfelt effort to do his will.
Now let's think, does this mean that we can ignore our commitments and obligations? That is why it can really be a challenge, because sadly sometimes there are brothers who confuse imperfection or evil and the idea of some is good, since we are imperfect they have to put up with me, they have to forgive me and since I am like that and things are like that.
However, that is not the point, since there were people with whom Jehovah acted differently. And this teaches us another principle, Jehovah acts with each person according to personal circumstances, everything is not always black or white, good or bad is relative, but the thing is the following, Jehovah is the judge, not any human being, as in the example at the beginning of the New World. Thank Jehovah that we are not the ones who are going to decide who is going to enter and who is not, that work is already in the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ, not us.
And he will do it perfectly well, while we often do things imperfectly wrong, we can be calm on that side, but the point is clear, we will continue to love him if we make an effort and repent from the bottom of our hearts.
Sometimes we can come across situations in which it is very easy to judge the first time, like the ones we can see in our Activity Guide for this week. Because you are not cleaning, you did not see your name in the cleaning program that we have to clean, instead you are wasting your time talking to others, but, without a doubt, there is an explanation and there is a story, it does not mean that it is okay , what he is doing, but there is the point of striving to be like Jehovah instead of only seeing the bad, striving to see the qualities of the brothers and not focusing on their defects.
Let's give an example: we see a sister who is late for a meeting and it is so easy to always think late, arriving late, but what if the sister lives alone, what if the sister is opposed by her husband, and if she had to take several and transportation to get to the meeting, he made a great sacrifice to be there. He had a big discussion at work to get to the meeting, but there he is fighting, he is making his effort, don't forget that criticizing is the easiest thing in the world, but seeing the positive points requires other qualities, not everyone does.
Jehovah sets us the example: the Bible says that in heaven in the spiritual region Satan also had that role as an accuser of our brothers. Let's not be like that, let's not imitate that diabolical behavior of living in a frequency of constant criticism of others. In fact, the Bible says in Matthew chapter 7: That if we are one of those who like to judge others, we will also be judged, and sometimes even with an extra measure, seeing it from that point of view, it is convenient for us not to judge others. others.
However, of course, in real life, in the real world, these principles that we have discussed are in the Bible, they are in magazines, but many times, they are not in practice. It is a reality and it is unfortunate. However, we can strive to imitate Jehovah individually and at some point we will see Jehovah's blessing in our lives.
Also, so to speak, having a positive attitude, such an attitude, is contagious and helps to promote a good environment, a spiritual paradise, in the congregation of which we are a part. So as an exhortation to us, let's not allow the bad actions of others, the bad attitudes, to make us imitate them and become just like them. But rather as our Lord Jesus Christ said, let us be like our father Jehovah, who does good over good and bad, who sees the good in others.
Of course, we cannot act naively, blindly, we do not have the eyes of Jehovah, we cannot see the hearts of people, we can see their actions and their fruits and it is important that we also learn to be observant, if someone helped us or did good in the past let's not forget it and let's trust that Jehovah is aware of all things and he will give each one what corresponds in due time. If someone is acting badly, we are going to leave it in Jehovah's hands, we will not put ourselves in the role of judges, because we do it badly and Jehovah does it better than us.
