APLPLY YOUR SELFTO THE FIELD MINISTRY: October 17-23, 2022, Speech, Lesson 14, Prepared Assignment.
Address (5 mins.): w15 3/15 10 pars. 10-12. Title: How Does Naboth's Account Help Us Understand Our View of Types and Antitypes? (th lec. 14).
Throughout the years Jehovah has helped the faithful and prudent slave to carry out his work in a better way, we say this because before we entered to find the “Types and Antitypes” of the Bible stories. That is to say, the meaning that these had or that we could find in them, which many times did not allow us to clearly understand the practical teachings of the Biblical stories, because as there were many, it was difficult to remember.
Now you may be wondering what we call "Type and Antitype", well our information mentions that the "Type" is an image or a representation of something that is going to happen in the future, while the "Antitype" is the reality of the thing that the type represents. In other words, brothers, the guy is just a shadow while the guy would become reality. To show a button, you remember Who was Naboth? The Bible mentions that Naboth owned a vineyard, a vineyard that could be seen from King Ahab's palace, so he wanted to buy the vineyard from him. Now, the Bible mentions that this man Naboth was fearful of God, because he knew that Jehovah had prohibited the inheritance of the ancestors from being sold or passed on to another tribe, so he gave him an answer, do you want to know what it was? please go with me to the Biblical account of 1 Kings chapter 21 and verse 3 if you find it there it says:
LET'S READ 1 KINGS 21:3
But Naboth said to Ahab: “I would never give you the inheritance of my ancestors. Jehovah would not see it well.”
With these words Naboth showed courage and obedience to Jehovah but sadly it cost him and his children his life because Ahab's wife falsely accused him of blaspheming against God and the King, brothers. Why do we mention this example? Because this story it contained a “Type and Antitype”, which we studied the type said that the death of Naboth represented the death of Jesus and the Anointed Ones, which it did not. While the preview is telling the reality of things, it showed us that Naboth died because he was faithful to Jehovah.
It is true that this was somewhat confusing, "The guy" often had a tendency to have more than one representation of a story which confused us and made us unable to get a practical teaching, but as we mentioned at the beginning, thanks to Jehovah now we We focus on the practical teachings of the Biblical stories by asking insightful questions that give us answers, for example now we better understand this story of Naboth, because we can ask ourselves, what does this story of the Bible teach us? o What does it teach me? Well, it teaches us that we must be obedient when we face persecution as Naboth did. Now another question we can ask ourselves is: Why is it important? To know this to know please go back to the Bible and let's now read the text of Second Timothy 3:12. Did you find it? He says:
LET'S READ TIMOTHY 3:12.
In fact, all those who wish to live with devotion to God in union with Christ Jesus will also be persecuted.
Notice? In this way we can then learn the teachings of the Bible in a simpler and more practical way, which by understanding them better we can put them into practice. Although today brothers as we are seeing our publications no longer focus on types or antitypes, sometimes they do teach us in what sense a certain aspect of a story can be compared with something or someone.
For example, we saw that Naboth was faithful until death and that, brothers, reminds us of the fidelity of Christ and of the Anointed Ones, but it also makes us think of the loyalty of so many Christians of the other sheep who have been faithful until their death, even brothers of our congregation, is it not that this explanation is very easy to understand? Because this is the way in which Jehovah our loving father teaches us.
