Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

You will see your Great Instructor with your own eyes (Isa. 30:20).

If we are baptized, it means that we have publicly expressed our faith in Jehovah and that we are willing to serve him with his organization. Jehovah's way of directing his organization today reflects his personality, his purpose, and his standards. Let's look at three characteristics of Jehovah that are reflected in his organization. First, "God is not partial" (Acts 10:34). Love moved Jehovah to give his Son as a ransom for all (John 3:16; 1 Tim. 2:6). To help as many people as possible to benefit from that rescue, Jehovah uses his people to bring the good news to all who want to hear it. Second, Jehovah is a God of order and peace (1 Cor. 14:33, 40). So it is to be expected that his people will serve him in an orderly and peaceful manner. Third, Jehovah is the “Great Instructor” (Isa. 30:21). Therefore, his organization is dedicated to teaching his Word, both in the congregation and in the preaching. w20.10 20 paras. 1-3

How did the first-century governing body work together to preserve order for God's people?

In the first century. The governing body, which was in Jerusalem, worked in unity to preserve order and peace for God's people (Acts 2:42). For example, when around the year 49 the issue of circumcision arose, the governing body discussed the matter under the guidance of the holy spirit. If the congregation had remained divided, the preaching would have been affected. Although the apostles and elders were Jewish, they were not influenced by their traditions or those who taught them. Rather, they sought guidance from God's Word and spirit (Acts 15:1, 2, 5-20, 28). As a result, Jehovah blessed the decision, the congregation preserved peace and unity, and the preaching work continued.—Acts 15:30, 31; 16:4, 5.

Why do we say that peace and order reign in Jehovah's organization today?

Nowadays. Jehovah's organization has endeavored to preserve order and peace for God's people. As early as 1895, the November 15 issue of the English edition of this magazine had an article based on 1 Corinthians 14:40 titled “Decently and in Order.” It read: “The apostles gave much advice to the early Church regarding order . . . It is wise to keep paying careful attention to the things that were written for our warning” (Rom. 15:4). The same desire for order and peace that distinguished first-century Christians is evident in Jehovah's organization today. As a sample button, if we were to attend a Watchtower Study in another congregation, even in another country, we would know how the study would be conducted and what article was being discussed. We would feel at home right away. This beautiful unity is only possible thanks to the spirit of God (Zeph. 3:9, footnote).

Bearing in mind the words of James 3:17, what questions should we ask ourselves?

What we can do. Jehovah wants us to maintain “the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace” (Eph. 4:1-3). Therefore, let us ask ourselves: “Do I promote peace and unity in the congregation? Am I obedient to the brothers who run it? Can others trust me, especially if I have responsibilities in the congregation? Am I punctual, helpful and willing to help? (read James 3:17). If we feel that we can improve in any of these areas, let us ask Jehovah for holy spirit. The more we allow it to shape our personality and influence our actions, the more our brothers will love and value us.
