Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

That will never happen to you (Matt. 16:22).

Sometimes the apostle Peter said or did things that he later regretted. For example, when Jesus told his apostles that he would have to suffer and die, Peter rebuked him by saying the words of today's text (Matt. 16:21-23). Jesus corrected him. When a crowd came to arrest Jesus, Peter impulsively cut off the ear of a slave of the high priest (John 18:10, 11). Jesus corrected him again. Furthermore, Peter had presumed that even if all the other apostles failed and abandoned Jesus, he never would (Matt. 26:33). But that overconfidence turned into fear of man, and Pedro denied knowing his Master three times. Depressed, he "went outside and wept bitterly" (Matt. 26:69-75). He must have wondered if Jesus could forgive him. However, Pedro did not give in to discouragement. Despite his mistake, he recovered, and we know that he went ahead along with the other apostles (John 21:1-3; Acts 1:15, 16). w20.12 20 paras. 17, 18

What did Boaz do to make Naomi and Ruth happy?

The owner of the field where Ruth worked was a rich man named Boaz. He was so moved by Ruth's loyalty and love for her mother-in-law, Naomi, that she bought back her family's inheritance and married Ruth (Ruth 4:9-13). Later, they had a son named Obed, who was the grandfather of King David (Ruth 4:17).

Imagine Naomi with Obed in her arms, beaming with happiness and thanking Jehovah from the bottom of her heart. But the best is yet to come for Naomi and Ruth. When they are resurrected, they will learn that Obed was the ancestor of the promised Messiah, Jesus Christ.

What valuable lessons can we learn from the account of Naomi and Ruth?

What do we learn? Going through a trial, we may become discouraged or even heartbroken. We may not see the output. In those moments, let us trust completely in our heavenly Father and let us not distance ourselves from our brothers. We know that Jehovah will not always take the test away from us, just as he did not give Naomi back her husband and children. But what it will always do is help us to endure, perhaps through the displays of loyal love from our brothers (Prov. 17:17).
