TREASURES FROM THE BIBLE, December 27, 2021 - January 2, 2022, “What can parents learn from the example of Manóah and his wife?” , Prepared Speech.
"What can parents learn from the example of Manóah and his wife?" (10 mins.)
The true value of something can be difficult to perceive. We are referring to diamonds as an example, although when it is polished it shines beautifully. When found in the rough, it hardly has a faint glow, and it takes a long and careful process to make it a precious gem.
It is possible that a diamond can resemble children. Why? because when they are just born you don't really know how they will react to different situations, the type of decisions they will make and the life they will lead. This is where, so to speak, a good craftsman, a good jeweler, a person who must know very well how to polish this diamond or his son, the parents, comes in.
In this section of Treasures of the Bible we are going to talk about the title: "What can parents learn from the example of Manoah and his wife?" In the Bible, children are given some qualifications such as that they are a gift from Jehovah, that they are an inheritance from Jehovah, that they are like arrows that must be directed very well. But all that indicates care, management. The firm desire to do what Jehovah says for this child shines forth before Jehovah.
For this we are going to analyze the example of Manoáh, a man who was married to a woman who could not have children. Suddenly something amazing happens in their lives.
LET'S READ: Judges 13: 6.
So the woman went and told her husband. He said, “A man of the true God came to see me. His appearance was very impressive, he looked like an angel of the true God. I didn't ask him where he came from, and he didn't tell me his name.
This event mentioned in verse 6 was something special, because at that time, for almost 40 years, the Israelites were left in the hands of the Philistines for doing things that were wrong in Jehovah's eyes. Now the situation is somewhat different. An angel of God introduces himself to Manoah's wife.
We can all perfectly understand that not everyone would be visited by a divine being, so it seems that they were outstanding, they were exemplary in their way of worshiping Jehovah. Children today undoubtedly take a lot of interest in the loyalty of their parents. It is impossible for a father today to tell his son, read the Bible, read the magazines, prepare the meetings, if the father does not do it, he has to stand out.
Jewelers, the artisans who work in jewelery with precious gems, have to be very careful in what they do, because a mistake can be fatal in destroying a valuable piece that could go to a special collection. But why did this angel have to visit Manoah's wife? Because I announced that I was going to have a baby. So in sharing this news with her husband, it must certainly have been mixed feelings. What do we do? Is it true? Once they found this to be true, he had many questions to ask.
LET'S READ: Judges 13: 8.
Manóah pleaded with Jehovah: "Excuse me, Jehovah, but please let the man of the true God you just sent come again to explain to us what we should do with the unborn child."
Although this news surely made these parents very happy, however, they were very worried because if a divine being intervened, it means that there was something special in what they had to do. So they ask Jehovah to help them raise the child as it should be.
Parents today also have a serious responsibility if they are considered as an inheritance, as a gift from Jehovah, because they have to manage it very well and the best person in the universe who can lead for excellent parenting is Jehovah God. . How can parents today get that guidance that Manóah also asked for?
When Manóah requested this request to Jehovah that the Angel return, his prayer was answered, and when the angel was again before them, he directly asked: What kind of life is the child going to lead? What is he going to do? And their answers were answered. It is what should be done within the family circle.
As parents, it is you who must lead your children on the right path. Of course, it is that sometimes children and young people are going to make decisions that are going to be wrong and it can possibly affect them, if not for a moment, it can also be for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, in the environment in which we live, people have created certain rules that go against what Jehovah has said regarding the responsibility of parents.
We mean that it is thought that children should not be corrected, they should not be told something other than what they think or believe or want to do because they can receive psychological problems. However, clearly the Bible says that Jehovah has given the authority to parents to correct their children, no matter how old they are while living under his roof.
LET'S READ: Judges 14: 1-4.
Samson then went down to Timna and there he saw a Philistine woman. 2 Then he went up to his parents and said to them: “I saw a Philistine in Timna who caught my attention. I want them to get me to marry her ”. 3 But his parents asked him: “Is there not a woman among your relatives or in all our town? Why do you have to find yourself a wife among those uncircumcised Philistines? " But Samson said to his father, "Get her for me, because she's the one for me." 4 His parents did not realize that this was coming from Jehovah, who was looking for an opportunity to act against the Philistines, since at that time the Philistines ruled Israel.
If we are talking here about an adult stage of Samson, but that they lived under the house of his parents, so they did not hesitate to make the necessary correction because that was the right thing to do. The law said that they were to marry among the members of the servants of God. But here we are talking about a Philistine.
When diamonds are polished, they need to go through a certain friction in order for them to have that quality, that purity that is so desired. Children also need to receive correction at certain times, because Jehovah has given them authority, and that can be used either personally, with publications, with the Word of God, so that this child is what Jehovah really expects, a loyal deer of him.
Surely Manoah and his wife did not take lightly raising someone who was their responsibility and who came from Jehovah. Today parents also have a serious responsibility.
And as seen in the photograph of our activity guide, they must worship as a family, help them to be precious gems before Jehovah, and all that will not only bring honor to parents, but will also exalt above all things. to wisdom to the perfect love of Jehovah.
