Watchtower Study, “Article 11”, May 11-17, 2026, Let Us Trust in the Sovereign of the Universe, Answers.

“Jehovah, [...] you alone are the Most High over all the earth” (Ps. 83:18).

1. What are some of the misfortunes that Job suffered?

Some of the misfortunes Job suffered were the loss of his children, his health, and his possessions, as we see in Job 2:9 and 19:1-3. Moreover, instead of receiving comfort, even his friends made him feel worse.

This makes us think about how difficult it can be when problems pile up. The account shows that these situations could have affected his trust in Jehovah.

In daily life, we sometimes face several trials in a row and can feel overwhelmed. But knowing what Job went through prepares us mentally, and it is heartening to see that Jehovah allowed this account to be recorded to help us today.

2, 3. a) What might we ask ourselves when we suffer?

A very realistic thing is that, when we suffer, we may wonder if we will be able to endure or even if Jehovah still cares about us, as mentioned in 2 Timothy 3:1.

This makes us think that these doubts are not strange, but rather human. In our congregation, we sometimes hear similar experiences, and that helps us not to feel alone.

But this account teaches us that even when we have such thoughts, Jehovah is not bothered; rather, he understands us. It is truly comforting to know that he is still by our side, even when we feel weak.

2, 3. b) What will we learn from the book of Job?

From these paragraphs we learn that Jehovah never abandons his loyal servants, as seen throughout the book of Job. Furthermore, we understand that he is the Sovereign and has control over events. This leads us to believe that our trials are not beyond his control.

In daily life, when something overwhelms us, remembering this can bring us peace. Jehovah may allow certain situations, but he will never let us suffer irreparable harm. It is truly comforting to know that we always have his support.

 SATAN APPEARED AMONG THEM

4. Who were present at the heavenly meeting mentioned in the book of Job?

Here we see that at that heavenly gathering were “the sons of the true God,” and, according to Job 1:6, Satan was also present. This teaches us that Satan was no longer part of Jehovah’s faithful family but an opposer. This makes us reflect on how clearly Jehovah knows who is loyal to him and who is not.

In the congregation, this reminds us of the importance of remaining faithful at all times. Even though Satan is active, Jehovah is always aware of everything, and it is very reassuring to know that nothing happens without his knowledge.

5. What does what was said at that meeting in heaven teach us?

What was said at that meeting teaches us several things. For example, that Satan is a liar, as we see at Job 1:9 and Revelation 12:10. It also shows that Jehovah uses his authority justly and perfectly. This leads us to believe that he will never act unjustly toward us.

In daily life, when something doesn't seem fair, we can remember that Jehovah is. Furthermore, he sets limits on what others can do, and that brings great peace, because we know that we are always protected within his boundaries.

JEHOVAH SETS LIMITS

6. How did Jehovah demonstrate that he had everything under control at that heavenly meeting? (Job 1:7, 8)

At Job 1:7, 8 we see that Jehovah had everything under control and knew exactly what Satan wanted to do. He even mentioned Job. This leads us to believe that Jehovah knows each of his servants well.

In the congregation, this encourages us because we know that Jehovah sees our efforts. Even when we go through trials, he is watching over us, and it is heartwarming to know that Jehovah trusts his faithful servants.

7. According to Job 1:10, 11, what did Satan imply about human beings?

Satan implied that people serve Jehovah out of self-interest, as we see at Job 1:10, 11. He also suggested that Jehovah “buys” loyalty. This makes us think about how serious that accusation is.

In our daily lives, we demonstrate that this is not true when we continue to serve Jehovah even in the midst of difficulties. Furthermore, texts such as Jeremiah 32:17 remind us that Jehovah has all power, but he uses it well, and this motivates us to show by our lives that we truly love Jehovah.

8, 9. What limit did Jehovah set for Satan, and why? (Job 1:12; see also the picture.)

Jehovah set a very clear limit for Satan, as Job 1:12 says. Satan could not directly touch Job, which shows that he does not have absolute power. This makes us think that our trials also have limits.

In the congregation, this is very encouraging because we know that Jehovah is always in control. Furthermore, Job remained faithful, as Job 1:22 states. And we are very excited to see that loyalty is indeed possible with Jehovah’s help.

Jehovah allowed Satan to make his accusations in the presence of others. (See paragraphs 8 and 9.)

10. Why did Jehovah allow Satan to attack Job again? (Job 2:2-6)

Jehovah allowed a second attack because Satan questioned Job’s integrity, but again he set a limit. He could not take Job’s life, as we see in Job 2:2-6. This suggests that even when trials intensify, Jehovah remains in control.

In daily life, things may get worse before they get better, but Jehovah never loses control. And it is truly comforting to know that our trials never exceed the limits he has set.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT

Jehovah allowed the second attack to prove Satan wrong again, but he set clear limits. This shows that Jehovah is always in control.

JEHOVAH ENDS JOB'S SUFFERING

11. According to Job 42:10-13, how did Jehovah reward Job after ending his suffering?

As we see in Job 42:10-13, Jehovah ended Job's suffering and blessed him abundantly. This leads us to believe that trials do come to an end.

In the congregation, many experiences show that Jehovah is at work today as well. It may not always be immediate, but Jehovah does not forget his servants. And it gives us great hope to know that he can change any situation.

12. How has Jehovah helped some of his servants who trusted in his power?

This example from 1945, like what we see in Daniel 3:27, shows us how Jehovah helped his servants in extreme circumstances. This makes us think that Jehovah is still at work today.

In our daily lives, we may not experience anything so extreme, but we do see his help. In the congregation, many experiences confirm this, and it strengthens us greatly to know that Jehovah never abandons his servants.

13. When you are going through problems, what can you be sure of? (See also the images.)

We can be confident that Jehovah will end our suffering, as indicated at 1 Peter 5:8-10. This helps us to believe that our trials will not last forever.

In daily life, when we feel discouraged, remembering this helps us to keep going. Jehovah has already set the time to end it all, and knowing this fills us with hope.

The younger brother is comforting the older one. 2. In a hospital, distraught parents are sitting by their little girl's bed. 3. A brother who is imprisoned digs with a shovel under a scorching sun while being watched by an armed soldier.

Jehovah will put an end to the suffering of his loyal servants. (See paragraph 13.)

JEHOVAH LOVES HIS LOYAL SERVANTS

14, 15. What will Jehovah do for his loyal servants, and why? (Job 14:15; see also the picture.)

Jehovah loves his servants so much that he even promises to resurrect them, as Job 14:15 and Isaiah 65:17 state. This makes us reflect on the depth of his love. Moreover, what he did for Job is just a glimpse of what he will do in the future, as Revelation 21:3, 4 indicates. In our daily lives, this brings us great comfort when we lose someone, and it fills us with joy to think of that happy future.

ILLUSTRATION

After their trials, Job and his wife received many blessings from Jehovah. (See paragraphs 14 and 15.)

16. What other reason do we have to trust in the Sovereign Lord?

Another reason to trust in Jehovah is that he has power over death, as Deuteronomy 32:39 and Romans 8:38, 39 state. This leads us to believe that nothing can prevent him from fulfilling his promises.

In the congregation, this strengthens our faith in the resurrection, and it is truly comforting to know that Jehovah never forgets those he loves.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT

We can trust in Jehovah because he has power even over death and because he will fulfill his promise of the resurrection.

LET US TRUST COMPLETELY IN JEHOVAH

17. Why do we say that Satan has not succeeded in wiping Jehovah's people off the map?

Satan has not been able to destroy Jehovah's people, as Isaiah 54:17 shows. This makes us think of Jehovah's constant protection.

In our daily lives, we see that the work continues despite opposition. In the congregation, this strengthens our confidence, and it is truly heartwarming to see how Jehovah continues to care for his people.

18. Why shouldn't we be afraid no matter what happens in the future?

We should not be afraid, because Jehovah will be in control even during the great tribulation, as Revelation 20:1-3 and Genesis 3:15 show. This leads us to believe that Satan's end is assured. In our daily lives, this gives us peace of mind and fills us with hope as we think about that time.

19. How will Jehovah reward those who trust in him completely? (See also the picture.)

Jehovah will reward his servants with perfect life, as Revelation 21:5 says. This makes us think about how wonderful the new world will be. In our daily lives, imagining that future motivates us to remain faithful, and we are thrilled to think about the resurrection and living without suffering.

Jehovah’s servants who remain faithful despite trials will receive many blessings. (See paragraph 19.)

20. What are you determined to do?
