Play the video "Prepared for Emergency Situations: Be Ready for the Unexpected." Then ask:

At first, what did the brothers in the video think about being prepared for emergency situations?

The brothers and sisters in the United States thought they would never experience a natural disaster because they lived in a mountainous region where such events were uncommon. In the case of the brothers and sisters in Congo, they initially didn't grasp the gravity of the situation until the elders helped them realize they needed to act quickly.

What measures did they take to be prepared?

They took several important steps:

1. They prepared emergency backpacks with necessary items.

2. They kept their phones charged and wrote down important numbers.

3. They prayed and discussed what was best for their families.

4. They decided to follow the recommendations and evacuate the place.

5. They kept emergency backpacks accessible and ready for use.

How did Jehovah bless all that they did to be obedient and ready for an emergency?

Jehovah blessed them by helping them stay safe. The brothers in Congo were able to leave before the situation worsened and many people died. The brothers in the United States had what they needed to stay safe at home during the hurricane thanks to their emergency backpacks. They were also able to stay in touch and care for their families.

What did these brothers learn?

They learned that it is very important to obey instructions and be prepared for any emergency. They also understood that trusting in Jehovah and following the guidance of his organization can save lives.

Furthermore, they learned that it is not enough to have supplies, but that they must also be constantly checked to ensure that they are working properly.
