APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, April 20-26, 2026, Start conversations: PUBLIC PREACHING. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 2, point 3). Assignment Prepared.

Start conversations (2 mins.) PUBLIC PREACHING. Use one of the truths in appendix A of the booklet A Work of Love (lmd lesson 2 point 3).

Setting: During public witnessing, a person pauses to look at the display, notices the cover of a magazine about coping with financial difficulties, and sighs. The publisher shows him, using the Bible, that current problems are signs that a positive change is coming soon—a future in which no one will have to worry about basic necessities.

Publisher: Good morning! I noticed you were looking at the magazine cover. With how expensive everything is these days, it's something that worries many of us, isn't it?

Assistant: Yes, that's true. Every time I go shopping, everything is more expensive. It's not as expensive as it used to be.

Publisher: It's true, it's something you hear everywhere. Watching the news and seeing the world situation, it seems like everything is getting worse. But did you know that the Bible was already talking about these conditions a long time ago?

Assistant: Oh, really? Does it also mention something about the economy?

Publisher: Rather than focusing solely on the economy, it describes a global situation. For example, Jesus said at Luke 21:10, 11: “Then he said to them: ‘Nation will fight against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and in one place after another, famines and pestilences. And fearful scenes and great signs from heaven will be seen.’”

Today we see that all of that is happening at the same time, including food shortages due to high prices.

Assistant: Seen in this light, it does coincide with what is happening.

Publisher: Exactly. And although the description is strong, Jesus didn't say it to alarm us, but to help us understand that these events are part of a sign that there will soon be a change for the better. God promises a future in which no one will have to worry about basic necessities.

Assistant: That would be a huge relief.

Publisher: Absolutely. That's why I'm giving you this magazine; it includes some helpful suggestions for dealing with the current situation and explains that hope for the future in more detail. It's completely free.
