APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, March 16-22, 2025, Make Disciples. (Making Disciples: A Work of Love. Lesson 11, Section 3). Assignment Prepared.

Make Disciples (5 mins.) lff lesson 19 introduction and points 1-3 (lmd lesson 11 point 3).

Setting: The publisher is conducting his weekly Bible study with someone who has already been working through several lessons. This time they begin lesson 19, which discusses why Jehovah's Witnesses believe they are the true Christians, the basis of their beliefs, their distinguishing name, and the kind of love they show for one another. During the study, the publisher asks questions based on the material and allows the student to reason and draw their own conclusions.

Publisher: [Name], in this lesson, as we see in the introductory paragraph, we will see why Jehovah's Witnesses believe we are the true Christians. To do this, we will examine the basis of our beliefs, the name that distinguishes us, and the kind of love we show one another. Let's begin. Please read the paragraph in point one.

Assistant: Jesus said to God, “Your word is truth.” Jehovah’s Witnesses do the same as Jesus. We have always based our beliefs on God’s Word.

Let's look at the beginnings of Jehovah's Witnesses today. Around 1870, a group of Bible students began to thoroughly examine God's Word. They based their beliefs on what the Bible said, even when those beliefs contradicted church teachings. Then they began to share the truths they had discovered with others.

Publisher: What do Jehovah's Witnesses base their beliefs on?

Assistant: Jehovah's Witnesses base their beliefs on God's Word, the Bible. To do this, just like the first Bible Students in 1870, they thoroughly analyze Bible teachings, especially when there is an apparent contradiction with what other religions teach.

Publisher: Excellent. And what text do we use to support this reasoning?

Assistant: With John 17:17, which says: “Sanctify them through the truth; your word is truth.”

Publisher: Very well. Please read the following paragraph.

Assistant: Jehovah says that those who worship him are his witnesses because they declare the truth about him. For example, in ancient times God told his people: “You are my witnesses.” And Jesus is called “the Faithful Witness.” That is why, in 1931, we chose the name Jehovah’s Witnesses. We are proud to bear that name.

Publisher: Why do we call ourselves Jehovah's Witnesses?

Assistant: We call ourselves Jehovah's Witnesses because we bear witness to the Bible's truth about Jehovah. Also because we are followers of Christ and try to imitate him. Revelation 1:5 says of him that he is the Faithful Witness. And, above all, because in Isaiah 43:10 Jehovah calls his people his witnesses.

Publisher: And, consequently, when did we officially adopt this name?

Assistant: In 1931. Furthermore, we are proud to wear it.

Publisher: Very good. Now, please read the following paragraph.

Assistant: Jesus loved his disciples so much that he considered them like family. We Jehovah’s Witnesses are also very close; we form a worldwide family. That is why we call each other “brother” and “sister.” We also obey this command: “Have love for all the brotherhood.”

Jehovah's Witnesses demonstrate this love in many ways. One of them is by helping our brothers and sisters around the world when they are going through difficulties.

Publisher: How do Jehovah's Witnesses imitate Jesus' love?

Assistant: They emulate him by showing love throughout the worldwide brotherhood, and they demonstrate this in many ways. One of them is by helping each other when they go through difficulties.

Publisher: Please read Mark 3:35 and answer: By loving each other in this way, what do we demonstrate?

Assistant: We demonstrate obedience and that we do Jehovah's will.

Publisher: Excellent. And besides that, are we obeying any mandate?

Assistant: Yes, the command of 1 Peter 2:17, which says: “Honor all sorts of people, love the whole brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.”

Publisher: Congratulations on your answers. Let's continue…
