Make return visits (4 min.) HOUSE TO HOUSE. Offer a Bible study to someone who accepted the Memorial invitation on the previous visit (lmd lesson 9 item 5).
Setting: The publisher revisits someone who, on the previous visit, accepted the Memorial invitation and showed interest in a Bible topic. During the last conversation, a question remained unanswered: If God is love, why did he allow Jesus to suffer such a death? On this visit, the publisher uses the Bible to answer that question and then shows how a Bible study can help the person find answers to many other questions.
Publisher: Good morning, Mrs. [name]. It's so nice to see you again! How has your week been?
Assistant: Hi, [name]. How punctual! Well, here I am, running around as usual, but I'm fine, thanks. I was thinking about the question you left me the other day.
Publisher: I'm so glad you remembered it. It's a question many of us have pondered: if God is love, why did He allow Jesus to suffer such a death? And that leads us to another important question: What real benefit does that bring us today, amidst so many problems?
Assistant: Exactly. I've always thought it was a sacrifice, but I don't really understand how that helps me now with my debts or worries.
Publisher: It's a very practical viewpoint, and the Bible has an answer that gives us great peace. Look at what it says here in Romans 5:19. Notice how it says: “For just as the disobedience of one man led many to sin, so also the obedience of one man will lead many to righteousness.”
Assistant: Because of the disobedience of one man… does it refer to Adam?
Publisher: That's right. Adam left us a legacy of problems, disease, and death. It's as if a father lost his entire fortune, and then his children were born into poverty through no fault of their own, and on top of that, they had to pay off the debts they inherited.
Jesus, being a perfect and obedient man, paid that debt with his death so that we could regain the opportunity to live in peace and perfect health. That is why his death is so valuable: it is the guarantee that suffering has an expiration date.
Assistant: Seen this way, it makes much more sense. It's not just an old story; it's like a rescue.
Publisher: Exactly. Yes, it's a legal and loving rescue. And that's precisely what will be discussed in more detail at the Commemoration on April 2nd.
But, Mrs. [name], knowing this is just the beginning. Sometimes the Bible seems like a difficult book to understand, but it's actually full of helpful advice for everyday life.
Assistant: Yes, I try to read it, but sometimes I get lost among so many names and laws.
Publisher: You're not alone; many of us have experienced this. That's why I'd like to offer you something that might be very helpful: a free, interactive Bible study. We use this booklet: Enjoy Life Forever! It's not for memorizing facts, but for seeing what Jehovah says about topics that affect us today, such as family, managing stress, and how to have hope.
Assistant: And how long does that take? Because you know I'm always short on time.
Publisher: I understand perfectly. We can go over one lesson a week, even via video call if that's easier for you. The important thing is that you receive direct answers from your own Bible. How about we try the first lesson next week, just so you can see how the method works?
Assistant: Okay, fine. I'm interested in learning more about that hope you mentioned.
Publisher: Excellent decision, Mrs. [name]. I assure you it will give you a very positive perspective. Then, I'll see you at the Memorial, and if that works for you, I'll stop by Saturday afternoon so we can start the booklet. Is that time convenient for you?
Assistant: Yes, Saturday at 5 pm is perfect.
Publisher: Very well, that's settled. Here's a copy of the brochure for you to review. Have a great day!
