APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, March 16-22, 2026, Start conversations: PUBLIC PREACHING. (Making disciples: a work of love, Lesson 5, point 3). Assignment Prepared.

Start conversations (3 mins.) PUBLIC PREACHING. Explain what the Memorial is to a person who has no Christian background (lmd lesson 5 point 3).

The publisher is carrying out his public ministry in a public square, handing out invitations for the Memorial. A person approaches him curiously and asks about the importance of this event for Jehovah's Witnesses. The person mentions that he has no Christian background but shows interest in learning more about Jesus.

Assistant: Good afternoon. Excuse me, I have a question. I've noticed you're handing out invitations about Jesus' death. In previous years, I've seen them distributed around the area, and I even found one at my house once. Why is it so important for you, Jehovah's Witnesses, to remember this event?

Publisher: Good afternoon. Of course, I'd be happy to explain. We're inviting people to attend the commemoration of Christ's death. It's a free event that everyone is welcome to attend. By the way, my name is [name]. What's your name?

Assistant: Nice to meet you, [name]. I'm [name]. But I'm curious: if this is a ceremony you perform, why do you invite so many people?

Publisher: Because what Jesus did benefits all humanity. Moreover, he himself asked that his death be remembered. That is why we want people to understand what his sacrifice means. Jesus, who was perfect and the Son of God, gave his life not only for the people of his time, but also for all who would live after him, including us today.

Assistant: Seen that way, it was a huge sacrifice. You could even say it was a gift.

Publisher: Exactly.

Assistant: But then another question arises. What benefits does that sacrifice have for us today? I know that Jesus was a very good person and did a lot for people, but there have also been other people in history who have done good things.

Publisher: You're right. Many of those people are remembered with monuments or statues. But in the case of Jesus, there's something different. As I mentioned, he was perfect and he was also the Son of God when he was on Earth.

Assistant: I understand. Although, to be honest, I grew up in a family that didn't practice any religion, so I was never told much about God.

Publisher: I understand. In fact, I didn't grow up as one of Jehovah's Witnesses either. But over time I learned something interesting from the Bible. Look at what Matthew 20:28 says: “That is what the Son of Man did. He did not come to be served, but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Assistant: Interesting.

Publisher: The commemoration will explain in more detail what that rescue means and why it's so important to all of us. If you'd like, here's an invitation. I would be very happy if you could attend.

Assistant: Thank you, I'll read it.

Publisher: With pleasure. If you decide to go, I'm sure it will help you better understand why this event is so significant to millions of people around the world.
