Start conversations (4 mins.) FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. (lmd lesson 5 point 5).
Setting: During house-to-house witnessing, the publisher initiates a conversation with a person about the future and concerns related to politics, the economy, and health. Using the Bible, the publisher shows that we should not be anxious about these things, but rather bring our requests to God.
Publisher: Hello, good morning. How are you, neighbor? I'm glad to see you today. I hope you're having a good day. Today I'm talking about a very important topic, and that's the future. Many people are worried about the economy, politics, and health.
Assistant: Yes, this is a topic that concerns us all. The truth is, there are many things we don't know about, and that makes us feel a little anxious.
Publisher: It's normal to worry about these things. I'm impressed that you're so aware of what's going on; that's very mature of you. The Bible offers us some very practical advice in Philippians 4:6. It says: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” What did you think of the reading?
Assistant: I don't know… it's easy to say, but it's hard not to worry. The truth is, I try not to think about it too much, but sometimes it's unavoidable.
Publisher: It's completely understandable. Worry is a natural response to life's uncertainties, but the Bible doesn't tell us not to worry because there aren't any problems, but because God is aware of what's happening.
Assistant: That's good to know.
Publisher: Would you like to know more about what the Bible says about this?
Assistant: Yes, of course. I'd like that.
