Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2025

The Father himself loves them, because they have loved me and have believed that I came as God's representative (John 16:27).

Jehovah loves to show his servants that he loves and approves of them. The Bible records two occasions when he told Jesus that he was his beloved Son and that he had his approval (Matt. 3:17; 17:5). Would you like Jehovah to tell you that he is pleased with you? It is true that he does not speak to us from heaven. But he does so through the pages of his Word. When we read the loving words that Jesus spoke to his disciples, we feel as if Jehovah were speaking them to us.

Jesus perfectly imitated his Father’s way of being. So when we read that Jesus told his faithful disciples that he loved them despite their imperfections, we can imagine Jehovah saying the same thing to us (John 15:9, 15). If we face trials, let us not view them as a sign that we have lost God’s approval, but rather as opportunities to show him that we deeply love him and trust in him (James 1:12).

Why should we not view trials as a sign that we have lost God's approval? (James 1:12).

Through his actions, Jehovah wants to help us, for example, by providing for our physical needs. But sometimes he allows us to experience difficulties, as happened in Job’s case (Job 1:8-11). Let us not view trials as a sign that we have lost God’s approval, but rather as opportunities to show him our deep love and trust in him (read James 1:12). And in those difficult times, we will see how he gives us his full support and love so that we can endure.

What does Dimitri's experience teach us?

Let’s look at what happened to a brother in Asia named Dimitri. He lost his job. Since many months passed and he couldn’t find another one, he decided to spend more time preaching to show Jehovah that he trusted him. But more months went by and he still couldn’t find work. Then he began to have health problems that forced him to stay in bed. Finally, he began to think that he was a bad father and a bad husband, and that Jehovah must be disappointed in him.

But one night, his little girl printed these words from Isaiah 30:15: “Your strength will depend on your remaining calm and showing confidence.” Then she took it to him and said, “Daddy, when you’re sad, remember this text.” Dimitri realized that, thanks to Jehovah, his family still had clothes, food, and a roof over their heads. He says, “All I had to do was stay calm and keep trusting in my God.” If you are going through a similar situation, you can be sure that Jehovah cares for you and will give you the strength to endure.

In what other way can Jehovah express his approval of us?

Through our brothers and sisters. Jehovah can motivate his servants to offer us words of encouragement just when we need them most. That is what happened to a sister in Asia. She lost her job and became seriously ill. Then her husband committed a serious sin and had to step down as an elder. The situation was so stressful that the sister said: “I didn’t understand why all this was happening to me. I thought that perhaps I had done something wrong and that I no longer had Jehovah’s approval.”

Then she begged him to assure her that he still loved her, and he answered her prayer. How? She explains: “The elders spoke with me and helped me see that I still had Jehovah’s love.” Some time later, she again told Jehovah that she needed to see his support. What happened? She relates: “That same day I received a very loving letter from several brothers in the congregation. When I read it, I felt that Jehovah had heard me.” As we can see, kind words from others often reflect Jehovah’s approval. (Psalm 10:17)
