Start conversations (3 mins.) FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. Talk about the end of war and violence (LMD lesson 5 point 4).
The publisher is preaching from house to house and talks with someone about a topic that affects everyone: war and violence. The person expresses their perspective based on human history, and the publisher takes the opportunity to show the hope the Bible offers.
Publisher: Good morning, my name is [name].
Assistant: Good morning, my name is [name].
Publisher: Mr. [name], today we're talking to people about an issue that affects us all in one way or another: war and violence. Do you think this will ever end?
Assistant: It's truly frustrating to see how war and violence seem to be an inevitable part of the human condition. I believe that, deep down, human beings are inherently violent, and we can never change that.
Publisher: What makes you believe that human beings are inherently violent?
Assistant: If you look at history, there have always been wars and conflicts. It seems that no matter how hard we try, we always fall back into violence. So I think it's something inherent in our nature.
Publisher: I understand your point. It's true that history is full of examples of violence and war, but would you like to know what the Bible says about this?
Assistant: Yes, I would like to know.
Publisher: The Bible teaches that human beings were created in the image of God, which implies that our original nature is good. Violence and evil entered the world as a result of Adam's sin. The Bible promises a future where there will be no more war or violence, and there will be peace throughout the planet, as shown in Isaiah 11:6–9 (Read the text).
As you may have noticed, there will be peace between humans and animals, as there was in Eden.
Assistant: That's interesting.
Publisher: Yes, under the Kingdom of God. This is what will happen. What do you say if I come back and we continue talking about this topic?
Assistant: Sure, that's fine with me.
