Make return visits (4 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. Present and discuss a video from the teaching kit, but do not play it (lmd lesson 8 point 3).
Setting: The publisher is in a waiting room and observes a woman reading the Bible. After congratulating her on her choice, a natural conversation arises about the difficulties of understanding the Bible. The woman mentions that Jehovah's Witnesses have been to her home, but she hasn't shown interest due to lack of time. The publisher, without pressure, presents her with a video from the teaching kit to explain what the Bible courses are like.
Publisher: Sorry to interrupt your reading, but I wanted to congratulate you.
Assistant: Congratulate me for…?
Publisher: For the book you've decided to read. The Bible is the best book we can read.
Assistant: Thank you. I actually started reading it this week, but it's been a bit difficult for me because there are some things I don't understand.
Publisher: It's completely normal not to understand at first. I also had a hard time when I first started reading it. What helped me a lot to understand it was a Bible study with Jehovah's Witnesses.
Assistant: Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses have stopped by my house and offered to study the Bible with me, but I haven't shown any interest because I feel I don't have time right now.
Publisher: I completely understand. In these busy times, it's normal to find time. But if you'd like, I can show you a very short video explaining what our Bible courses are like. Perhaps it can clear up some of your doubts.
Assistant: Okay, fine. Let's watch the video.
(Both watch the video on the publisher's cell phone. Brief pause simulating watching the video.)
Assistant: This clears up some of my doubts. You know, I thought that by saying "studying the Bible," I had to take some kind of test like elementary school students, and I didn't like that at all.
Publisher: No, not at all. You never have to take an exam. The video clearly shows that you learn at your own pace and willingness. Plus, you decide the day and time you have available to study. We can study for an hour or less, depending on your time.
Assistant: Oh, how interesting. In the video they also mentioned that I can use my own Bible.
Publisher: That's right. You can use your Bible, and we use another publication as a guide for the course. And the best part is that this publication is completely free.
Assistant: Great, so everything is free.
Publisher: Yes, everything is free. Our goal is for people to benefit from Bible study. Through the course, you will be able to better understand the Bible, what it promises for the future, how to have a happy life, and, above all, how to be a friend of God.
Assistant: I really liked the video because I wasn't sure what the Bible courses offered by Jehovah's Witnesses were like. Now that I've started reading the Bible and you've explained what the courses are like, I'm going to think twice about starting one.
Publisher: That's great to hear! If you'd like, we can exchange phone numbers to stay in touch. That way, if you have any additional questions or decide to start the course, you can let me know.
Assistant: Sure, good idea.
