Watchtower Study, Imitate Faithful Angels, July 14-20, 2025, Comments and Responses.

“Praise the Lord, all his angels” (Ps. 103:20).

1, 2. a) What distinguishes us from angels?

The things that differentiate us from angels include the fact that they were created long before humans. They are more powerful than we are and are holy and righteous to a degree unattainable for us, because we are imperfect.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

One thing that sets us apart is that we were created long before humans. In fact, Job 38:7 says that when Jehovah created the earth, they were already looking on and shouting and praising.

Angels are more powerful; and not only that, but they are holy and righteous, and they have a level unattainable for us, since we know we are imperfect.

1,2. b) What do we have in common with angels?

The things we have in common with angels are that both they and we can reflect Jehovah's beautiful qualities. We enjoy freedom of choice, we have our own names and personalities, different tasks in our service to Jehovah, and the need to worship our Creator.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

One thing we have in common with angels is that both they and we can reflect Jehovah's qualities.

We can also reflect Jehovah's beautiful qualities, and we have free choice. We also have our own name and personality.

Each person has their own personality, just like us humans. They also have different tasks to perform in Jehovah's service, just like we do.

Both the angels and we have a need to worship God. The apostle Peter says in his first letter, when speaking of the prophets who had announced the good news, that these are the very things the angels desire to pay close attention to. Angels have always been interested in everything related to Jehovah, to his worship, and we also have that need.

Angels are not like robots; they have freedom of choice, free will. We too have the freedom to make the decision to worship Jehovah or not.

We all have a name. Angels have names; we've known some of them, and we too have a personal name that identifies us.

We have all been created with the need to worship Jehovah, and we all belong to his family.

3. What can we learn from faithful angels?

We can learn much from the example of faithful angels, such as their humility, their love for people, their endurance, and their efforts to keep the worship of Jehovah pure.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

We can learn from his humility or, for example, from his love for people.

We can learn from their endurance, and their hard work in keeping the congregation clean.

ANGELS ARE HUMBLE

4. a) In what ways do angels show that they are humble?

Angels demonstrate their humility by unhesitatingly obeying Jehovah's instructions. Despite their great power, wisdom, and experience, they perform the tasks assigned to them without boasting about their abilities or accomplishments. They rejoice in doing God's will, even if no one knows their name or recognizes their work. Furthermore, they refuse to accept the glory that belongs to Jehovah alone.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

In Psalm 103:20 it says, because, although his angels are strong and powerful, they do what Jehovah says and obey his commands.

Although they carry out many tasks of great responsibility, they do everything they do without boasting or giving themselves glory.

Proof of this is the account in 2 Kings 19:35, where an angel, through the power of Jehovah, performs a feat, and his name is nowhere mentioned. He must have been happy to have served Jehovah, even though no one knows who he was.

An example is found in Second Kings 19:35. A single angel killed 185,000 Assyrians, and we don't know the name of that angel.

The angels refuse to accept the glory that belongs only to Jehovah, and realize that only He is great and awesome to all those around Him.

4. b) Why are angels humble? (Psalm 89:7)

Angels are humble because they love Jehovah and respect him deeply, recognizing his greatness and giving glory to him alone, as Psalm 89:7 indicates.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

The angels' humility comes from their love and respect for Jehovah. The angels show us that, no matter how great our abilities or achievements, we must always maintain an attitude of obedience and modesty.

Angels are humble because they love Jehovah and respect him deeply.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

The angels' humility comes from their love and respect for Jehovah. The angels show us that, no matter how great our abilities or achievements, we must always maintain an attitude of obedience and modesty.

5. How did an angel demonstrate humility when he corrected the apostle John? (See also the image.)

The angel demonstrated humility by correcting the apostle John when he attempted to worship him after receiving a shocking vision. Instead of accepting the glory, the angel stopped him, saying, “Watch out! Don’t do that. I’m just a slave like you. Worship God.” He didn’t feel superior to John, despite his greater power and experience, and he corrected him kindly, directing all his attention to Jehovah.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

The angel's humility in saying, "I am a slave like you," to John, despite his greater power and experience, teaches us not to feel superior to others, regardless of our length of service or our responsibilities, and to serve with humility as true slaves of Jehovah.

The apostle John received a shocking vision from an angel. Of course, it was so shocking that he wanted to worship the angel, but the angel told him, "Be careful! Don't do that!" He could have just said that, but to reinforce that he truly believed it, he added, "I am a slave like you. Worship God." There you can see how he showed his humility, that although John had been shocked, it was really all from Jehovah.

This is an important lesson, because that angel had surely served Jehovah for a very long time, yet he didn't consider himself more important or greater than John. Despite being more powerful, he told him, "I am a slave like you." He didn't rebuke him harshly either, but rather treated him kindly, thus setting a good example of humility.

Not only did he refuse to receive glory and praise, but he rejected them. He refused to accept them and immediately turned his attention to Jehovah. This demonstrated true humility.

John tried to worship the angel because he was shocked by the awesome vision he had just received. Therefore, when we have to give advice, we should consider the situation the brother or sister is in. That way, we will act kindly toward them and it will be a great help to them.

The image illustrates this situation very well, because let's remember that John was over 90 years old. So here we see the figure of an old man and, in contrast, the figure of an angel with tremendous energy; the contrast is very stark. But the angel's facial expression also stands out, almost a mix of surprise, sorrow, and a plea: "Please don't do it, you're wrong," expressed in a very humble way.

The note mentions that we only know two names: Michael and Gabriel. The rest, although they have also acted powerfully, are unknown.

ILLUSTRATION

An angel tells the apostle John not to bow down to him or worship him.

The angel was humble when he spoke to John and corrected him. (See paragraph 5.)

6. How can we imitate the humility of angels?

We can imitate the angels' humility by fulfilling our assignments without boasting or highlighting our abilities. We should not feel superior because we have served Jehovah longer or because we have responsibilities, but rather see ourselves as lesser than them. Like angels, we should serve others without making them feel more important, showing humility at all times.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

This principle reminds us that true greatness before Jehovah is measured by our humility and willingness to serve. By rejecting pride and focusing on helping our fellow believers, we reflect the qualities of faithful angels.

We can imitate the humility of angels by fulfilling our assignments without boasting or showing airs of superiority.

First Corinthians gives us a very beautiful idea: everything we have received, we have received because Jehovah has given it to us. Therefore, we should not boast about what we have achieved in the organization, but rather follow the example of the angels. What we want is to serve others and never make them feel important or superior to them.

If we have lived in the truth for many years, have many privileges, and have much experience, let our focus, instead of thinking about the differences between us and our brothers, always be on looking up to Jehovah. In this way, we will realize, as Luke 9:48 says: that we are truly among the least and that it makes no sense to think of ourselves as superior.

Something that can greatly help us imitate the humility of angels is to understand that having certain responsibilities in the congregation will only be effective if we use them to help our fellow believers and the congregation as well.

Sometimes, due to our underlying values, we may make others feel more important than them. Like angels, we must serve others without making them feel superior and demonstrating humility at all times.

7. How can we show humility when we correct or advise someone?

We show humility when correcting or advising if we do so with respect and affection, without feeling superior. Like the angel with John, we can be firm but kind, so that the person feels encouraged, not crushed.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

This principle teaches us that the way we give advice or correction reveals our level of humility. By acting with kindness and empathy, we reflect the spirit of the faithful angels, who always seek to honor Jehovah by treating others with dignity.

We can show humility when we have to correct or advise someone, whether it's our brother or our child. To do this, we can draw on Colossians 4:6, which encourages us to always use pleasant words, seasoned with salt, so that we know how to respond to each person. We should also follow the example of the angel with John: be kind and firm, but without making the person feel crushed by what we say.

Any advice we give must be based on the Bible. This way, attention will be paid to the person truly giving the advice: Jehovah, not to us.

As we read in Colossians 4:6, my words should be pleasant and edifying, truly building up and strengthening. That's what's important. We wouldn't want to be burdened with the responsibility of a little brother or sister feeling crushed by the way we handle a matter.

ANGELS LOVE PEOPLES

8. a) According to Luke 15:10, how do angels show that they love people?

According to Luke 15:10, angels demonstrate their love for people by rejoicing when a sinner repents. They are happy when a lost sheep returns to Jehovah or when a person learns the truth and makes changes to serve God. They care deeply about people's spiritual well-being.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Because they feel joy, they are happy when, for example, a person returns to the truth or learns the truth. So angels love people.

If we think about it carefully, it's truly striking, because it means that while they are serving Jehovah, they are also attentive to people. That is, they notice when a person who doesn't serve Jehovah shows some spiritual interest, or when a brother is spiritually weak, or has left the truth but is trying to return; they are equally attentive. If we think about it on an individual level, it's impressive to consider something like this.

8. b) What role do angels play in preaching? (See also the image.)

Angels play an important role in preaching. Although they don't preach directly to people, they can guide us to those who want to learn about Jehovah. When we preach, we can be sure that they will be there to support us.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Angels are not mere observers, but active participants in Jehovah's work. Their joy at people's response to the Kingdom message reflects their love for humanity. Furthermore, their role in preaching encourages us to trust in their support as we fulfill this important assignment.

We know that angels do not preach directly, but as we see in the illustration, it seems that this couple is finishing their shift with the carts and heading home, and the angels are there, as if showing them that there is a person there who might be interested, and in that way, they help in the preaching.

Although we can never confirm that they have directly helped in a specific case, we do know that they are attentive to the preaching. In fact, Revelation 14:6 says that it was an angel who had good news to announce to those living on earth.

Angels have another advantage over us: they can know what people are going through, what they're experiencing, what they're thinking, and thus recognize whether they have a spiritual need. They can then guide us to find them.

The box shows the example of a 12-year-old publisher. She was preaching on the phone with her mother and spoke with a woman who had been asking God to send someone to help her. The woman quickly understood that the call was an answer to her prayers and accepted a Bible study program.

The box shows the example of a woman from Romania who had stopped studying the Bible. She later went to Italy and wanted to resume the course, so she asked Jehovah to help her. She met a family with whom she began working, and one day they sent her to do some shopping at a store. They warned her: "But don't talk to that man who is one of Jehovah's Witnesses, because he will talk to you about the Bible." It was precisely there that she found the answer to her prayer, for thanks to that encounter she was able to begin the Bible course again.

The box shows the example of a married couple who were going to sell their car. They explained to the man who was going to buy it that they wanted to get rid of that expense so they could dedicate more time to preaching. The man then told them that just the day before, he had asked God to send him someone because he felt empty and needed to find the truth. As a result, he and his family began studying the Bible and now attend meetings.

The examples in the box teach us that we can be tools in Jehovah's hands, with the help of the angels. These experiences show that, regardless of age, all we need to do is be alert to circumstances and take advantage of opportunities to speak with people who may be in need of spiritual nourishment.

ILLUSTRATION

A married couple is walking down the street with a preaching cart. Angels are above them, causing the sister to notice a young woman sitting on a bench with a sad face.

A couple who have finished preaching with their wagon are on their way back home. Then the sister sees a woman who looks sad. She understands that angels can direct us to people who are seeking spiritual help, and she feels compelled to speak with her and comfort her. (See paragraph 8.)

9. How can we imitate the love that angels feel for people?

We can imitate the angels' love by rejoicing when a brother is readmitted, welcoming him warmly and showing him our love. We can also imitate the angels' love by giving our all in preaching and supporting brothers in the ministry, such as going out to preach with a new publisher or helping an older or sick brother participate.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

This passage teaches us that love is not just a feeling, but an action. Like the angels, we can show our love for people through concrete gestures, such as supporting those who have been readmitted, working hard in preaching, and helping our brothers and sisters in ministry.

For example, when it is announced in the congregation that someone has been readmitted, we should, like the angels, rejoice greatly, welcome them warmly, and let them know we love them. As we read in 2 Corinthians 2:7-8, we should kindly forgive them, comfort them, and confirm our love for them.

Another way is to put effort into preaching, and since we know we are being supported by the angels, what we should do is try to support our brothers in any circumstance.

One way we can imitate the angels' love is by supporting preaching within the congregation, accompanying publishers who are new to the ministry. Also, if we know someone is sick and unable to leave home, we can make plans to, for example, write letters or preach by telephone.

The angels' love for people should prompt us to seek ways to help our fellow human beings in every aspect of their lives.

10. What does Sara's experience teach us?

Sara's experience teaches us that even when our circumstances limit what we can do, there are always ways to collaborate with the angels in the preaching work. Despite being unable to get out of bed, Sara adapted her ministry and began preaching by telephone, resulting in 70 Bible studies. Her example shows that, with determination and support, we can find creative ways to continue in Jehovah's service.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Sarah's perseverance inspires us not to give up in the face of difficulties, but to seek creative ways to serve Jehovah, trusting in his support.

It teaches us that even if our circumstances change overnight and we struggle to adapt to a new life and routine, if we trust in Jehovah, we are not alone, because he will help us.

This sister, despite her changing circumstances, continued to read the Bible daily and also received the affection of the members of the congregation. Although she could only preach by telephone, she eventually held more than 70 Bible courses, so many that she had to ask other members of the congregation for help to attend them all. Many of them now attend the meetings.

She was able to do this because she had 20 years of prior pioneering experience. Surely, those 20 years of pioneer service allowed her to reconnect with many people she had spoken to during that time, and they in turn served as a link for new Bible courses. In other words, as we read in Ecclesiastes 11, she sowed the seed, and 20 years later, 70 people with willing hearts appeared.

She says she felt very depressed. She was bedridden and couldn't even sit down to write her letters.

If we do as she did, that is, maintain a good spiritual routine despite the circumstances, that perseverance, love for the ministry, and, of course, the invaluable help of the angels will help us continue forward in preaching.

The Angels Show Resilience

11. In what ways do faithful angels give us an excellent example of endurance?

Faithful angels set an excellent example of endurance by enduring injustice and evil for thousands of years. They witnessed the rebellion of Satan and other angels. They faced direct opposition from powerful demons and watched as the majority of humanity rejected Jehovah. Despite all this, they have never ceased to serve him with joy and enthusiasm, fully trusting that Jehovah will fulfill his purpose.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

This example of the angels teaches us that endurance is not just tolerating difficulties, but maintaining loyalty and joy while we await divine justice.

Faithful angels give us an excellent example of endurance, as they have endured injustice and evil for thousands of years.

They also had to witness the unfaithfulness of Satan himself and all his demons who rebelled against Jehovah. This occurred over a long period of time.

Their example also teaches us much about endurance, for example, which is closely related to loyalty. They endure because they are loyal to Jehovah; they love him above all else. Furthermore, their endurance is not resignation; rather, they remain happy, joyful, and enthusiastic.

Daniel 10:13 speaks of an angel who had to face opposition from a powerful demon. This teaches us about the role they play in fulfilling God's word and the commitment they also make to fulfill their responsibilities.

Despite having endured Satan's injustice, evil, and rebellion for thousands of years, they know that, in due time, God will put an end to them all.

For thousands of years, the angels have seen that, out of all of humanity—billions of people—only a few have accepted the truth. So this is a good example for us to endure as well, even if it's not so easy to find interested people.

12. What will help us endure?

We can endure like faithful angels if we continue to do what is right. We trust Jehovah completely and ask for his spirit. He gives us the strength, patience, and joy we need to face opposition and stand firm.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

This passage reminds us that endurance depends not only on our own strength, but also on divine help. By trusting in Jehovah and seeking his Spirit, we find the strength to overcome any challenge.

What will help us endure is to keep in mind that the situation won't continue like this forever, because, in due time, God will take care of changing it. And as Hebrews 13:6 says, in the meantime, even if we have to endure many hardships, we can always count on Jehovah to be by our side and give us the strength we need to face every trial.

It will help us to endure by not ceasing to do what is right, that is, not ceasing to preach. We must also ask Jehovah to give us his Holy Spirit, which helps us to be patient and to continue enduring.

It's true that saying "you have to endure" or "you have to be happy" may seem easy, especially if we haven't experienced certain difficulties. Or perhaps we are, and that's why we find them difficult to bear. One thing we can do is reflect on those times when we've felt bad and, when we asked Jehovah for help, He has given us His Spirit. That way, we'll realize that, at all times, Jehovah is truly helping us. We just need to recognize those moments when, in the midst of difficulty, we have felt His support.

We will always endure opposition and injustice around us. But if we trust in Jehovah, as Hebrews 13:6 says, He will be our helper, and we will not fear man.

As Colossians 1:11 says, with patience and happiness, that is, enduring and continuing to do good.

ANGELS HELP KEEP THE CONGREGATION CLEAN

13. What special work do angels perform during the last days? (Matthew 13:47-49)

During the last days, angels perform the special task of separating the wicked from the righteous, according to Matthew 13:47-49. Since the preaching attracts millions of people from all walks of life, and some take the necessary steps to become Christians while others do not, the angels are charged with making this separation to help protect the purity of the congregation.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

This story teaches us that angels are not only observers, but also active collaborators in the spiritual protection of the congregation. Their work reflects Jehovah's love and care for his people. It reminds us of the importance of valuing and maintaining spiritual purity, knowing that we have the constant support of these powerful allies.

Angels help protect the purity of the congregation, separating the wicked from the righteous.

In Matthew's prophecy, it is said that angels will come out and separate the wicked from the righteous. Here, preaching is compared to a net that draws different types of people into the congregation. Some are like "good fish" because they progress, demonstrate their loyalty, and remain close to Jehovah. Others, perhaps, show some interest but end up abandoning the truth or straying from Jehovah. We do not give them up for lost, even though up to this point they are not proving to be "good fish." Angels are involved in all this work, supervising and worrying about the cleanliness of the congregations. And that, too, reassures us.

14, 15. How can we imitate the angels' concern for the spiritual and moral cleanliness of the congregation? (See also the images.)

We can imitate the angels' concern for spiritual cleanliness by remaining morally pure, choosing good company, and avoiding anything that might distance us from Jehovah. We also help when we lovingly encourage a brother who has sinned to seek the help of the elders. If someone is disfellowshipped, our firm stance can motivate him to reconsider and return to Jehovah.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

This reminds us that maintaining the spiritual purity of the congregation is everyone's responsibility. By acting with love and firmness, we not only protect the congregation, but also show kindness to those who may be spiritually weak.

As we strive to remain morally and spiritually clean, it's very important to be careful with our company. As Psalm 101:3 says, we don't want to have anything to do with those who stray from what is right. Therefore, we must be very careful with whom we associate.

If we learn that a member of the congregation has committed a serious error, we should encourage him to speak to the elders. And if over time we see that he hasn't done so, then we will be the ones to inform the elders.

If a brother has made a serious mistake, it's as if he were sick. So, James 5:14 and 15 says he needs to be healed, that he should go to the elders to be able to recover spiritually.

One way to maintain the cleanliness of the congregation is to protect our hearts and keep ourselves morally and spiritually clean.

In Psalm 101:3, it begins by saying, “I will set before my eyes nothing despicable.” So we also need to guard against what we see, what we hear, and what we allow to enter our minds and hearts.

Although we don't hate people who stray from what is right, we must cultivate a hatred for their actions, so as not to fall into the same trap ourselves and to have the motivation to help them if we are in a position to do so.

If a brother commits a sin, the first thing we want is for his relationship with Jehovah to return to what it was before. Therefore, we encourage him to speak to the elders. If after a while he doesn't do so, then we have a biblical responsibility to go to the elders, both to keep the congregation clean and to help this brother restore his good conduct.

If necessary, because the brother who committed the sin does not repent, as 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 says, he will be expelled from the congregation. Therefore, if we want to keep the congregation clean, we must respect that decision and not have any relationship with him, since this is also a way to motivate him to reconsider and return to Jehovah.

As explained in the Governing Body's second report, if someone is removed from the congregation and attends the meetings, each person, according to his or her Bible-trained conscience, will decide whether to greet him or her and extend a brief welcome.

The image shows a sister talking with her friend, who has committed a serious sin. However, the friend's attitude does not seem ideal, as she is unwilling to confess. The sister waits a reasonable amount of time and, out of love for her and for Jehovah, goes to the elders to report what happened.

It's interesting to reflect that actions toward a brother who has committed a sin are not done out of revenge against the person, but rather, as Luke 15:7 says, it's actually because there's greater happiness in heaven in recovering him. He is given the opportunity to reestablish his friendship with Jehovah.

ILLUSTRATION

Series of images: 1. Two sisters are in a park, sitting on a bench drinking coffee. One of them is talking to the other, who is looking away. 2. Later, the sister who was talking is in the Kingdom Hall, telling something to two elderly people.

What should we do if we learn that a brother has committed a serious sin? (See paragraph 14.)

16. In what ways will you strive to imitate the angels?

I will strive to imitate the angels by being humble in my assignments, showing genuine love for others, enduring trials with faith, and contributing to the spiritual cleansing of the congregation. In this way, I will please Jehovah and be part of his family forever.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

When we are humble, when we love people, when we endure, and when we strive to maintain moral and spiritual cleanliness in the congregation.

It won't be easy, but it's worth the effort to imitate the angels and, in doing so, keep the congregation clean.

Being humble, loving people, enduring injustice, and striving to keep the congregation clean.

HOW CAN WE IMITATE THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES OF ANGELS?

His humility

We can imitate the humility of angels by fulfilling our assignments without seeking personal recognition or glory. We should not consider ourselves superior to others, even if we have more experience or responsibility, but rather serve with modesty and view others as equals. When we correct or counsel, we do so with kindness and respect, without judging or humiliating, just as the angel who gently corrected the apostle John.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

By fulfilling our assignments without boasting or giving the impression that we have special abilities. We should not think we are superior to others because of our length of service to Jehovah or the responsibilities we have. And if we must correct someone, do so with kindness, always based on the Bible's counsel, with respect and affection.

We must also always direct our attention to Jehovah, as Jehovah's servants did in ancient times.

His love for people

We can imitate the angels' love by rejoicing when someone is readmitted to the congregation and welcoming them warmly. We can also do our best to preach diligently and support our brothers and sisters in the ministry, such as accompanying new publishers or helping older or sick brothers and sisters preach.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

One way is that when a sinner or a brother who has been expelled returns to the congregation, we rejoice and welcome him with great affection.

As we strive to do our best in our ministry, the angels greatly support us when we preach; they are there. We should also try to help other brothers and sisters, looking for ways to support them and encourage them to participate in the ministry.

His interest in the cleanliness of the congregation

We strive to remain morally and spiritually clean by choosing good company, rejecting what distances us from Jehovah, and lovingly helping those who make mistakes seek help from the elders. In this way, we protect the congregation.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

We should start with ourselves to stay morally clean. And if we know of someone who has committed a sin, we should encourage them to speak to the elders. And if they don't, then we should be the ones to report it to keep the congregation clean.
