APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY, July 28-August 3, 2025, Start Conversations: FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. (Making Disciples: A Work of Love, Lesson 3, point 4). Prepared Assignment.

Start conversations (3 mins.) FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. (lmd lesson 3 point 4).

Setting: The publisher is preaching from house to house when a woman meets her and asks her a question about prayer. The woman expresses doubt about whether God hears prayers, as she currently prays to religious figures due to the family problems she faces. The publisher responds with empathy and respect, avoiding offending or directly confronting the woman's beliefs.

Publisher: Good morning, my name is [name]. I'm chatting with the neighbors to share something that has cheered many people up. How are you today?

Assistant: Good morning. Excuse me for changing the subject, but I've been meaning to talk to someone religious for a few days, and since you're here… may I ask you a question?

Publisher: Of course, I'd be happy to. How can I help you?

Assistant: Do you, Jehovah's Witnesses, pray? Do you believe in prayer?

Publisher: Yes, of course. For us, prayer is a wonderful blessing. It's the means we have to communicate directly with our Creator.

Assistant: Well, lately I've stopped believing in prayer. I have doubts about whether God really hears our prayers.

Publisher: I understand how you feel. In the midst of the difficult situations we experience, it's normal for those doubts to arise.

Assistant: I pray to the Virgin Mary, Saint Benedict, and Saint Michael to intercede for me before God. My husband is sick, I'm having problems with my children... and all of this has caused me a lot of anxiety. But I don't know if God really hears me.

Publisher: I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. It must be very difficult to face so many challenges at once. But I'm so glad you're seeking refuge in God. That's very valuable. How about we try praying the way Jesus taught us?

Assistant: How did Jesus pray?

Publisher: (Opens the Bible.) I'd like to read you a Bible passage that shows us how Jesus prayed. It's Matthew 6:9. It says: "This is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name."

According to what we read, to whom was Jesus directing his prayer?

Assistant: To his Father.

Publisher: Exactly. Very well. And look at the first words of the text: “You must pray in this way.” This means that Jesus was recommending that we pray directly to his Father, our Creator.

Assistant: That's true. I'd never noticed that detail before, even though I read those biblical texts often.

Publisher: How about you try praying directly to God right now? He wants to hear you and help you.

Assistant: Thank you for helping me understand this very important point. I'm going to start praying directly to God.

Publisher: What a beautiful decision. I'm so happy. And I'd like to come back another day to explain to you, using the Bible, how we can pray for God to hear us and how our prayers can help us.

Assistant: Nice to meet you. If you can make it this weekend, I'll be here Saturday afternoon.

Publisher: With pleasure. I'll be here on Saturday to continue discussing this important topic. Have a great day, madam.

Assistant: Thank you very much to you too. See you Saturday.
