Start conversations (3 mins.) PUBLIC PREACHING. Tell the person about our Bible courses and give them a contact card for our Bible classes (LMD lesson 4, point 3).
Setting: While preaching in a park, a publisher approaches a woman and shares an encouraging Bible passage. The conversation sparks the woman's interest, and she admits she reads the Bible but doesn't fully understand it. The publisher, respectfully and kindly, tells her about Bible studies and shows her the book Enjoy Life Forever! to explain how the study works.
Publisher: Good morning, my name is [name]. I'm chatting with people stopping by to share a very encouraging Bible passage. Would you like to hear it?
Assistant: Sure, go ahead.
Publisher: Thank you. Look, it's in Isaiah 33:24. It says, "And no one living in this land will say, 'I am sick.'" The people who live in this land will be forgiven for their sin.
Imagine this: God promises us a future where no one will say, "I'm sick." We will be completely healed because Jehovah has forgiven our sins and restored us completely. It's a wonderful hope.
Assistant: How lovely. You know something? I've always listened to you Jehovah's Witnesses. I like the way you talk. You don't instill fear in people with "repent or go to hell." You always share good things, positive things.
Publisher: Thank you for saying that. We're so glad you noticed. It's truly Jehovah God who helps us share those beautiful hopes he himself promises in his Word.
Assistant: And you know what else strikes me? You know so much about the Bible. I read it, but I don't understand much of it. You know what it says and what it doesn't say.
Publisher: Believe me, not long ago I was the same. I read the Bible, but I struggled to understand it… until I started a Bible study with Jehovah's Witnesses. That made all the difference.
Assistant: A Bible course? What's that about?
Publisher: It's a practical Bible study, simple yet highly educational. It helps us understand what the Bible really teaches and how to apply it in daily life.
We rely on this book: Enjoy life forever! (He shows her the book)
Assistant: (Looks at the book.) Oh, what interesting topics. And the Bible covers all of that?
Publisher: Yes. This publication is entirely based on the Bible. Each teaching has a supporting biblical text. That's why we say our answers are not our own; they come from the Word of God.
Assistant: No wonder you always have an answer for everything… and with the Bible in hand!
Publisher: It's all thanks to Jehovah, who left us this beautiful gift: His Word. It's available to everyone. Would you like to start a Bible study? That way, you'd learn many of these passages and gradually write them down until you master them.
Assistant: I would like to, yes… but first I have to organize my schedule to be able to do it well.
Publisher: Sounds great. No pressure. Here's a contact card with my number. (Hands her the card.) When you're ready, call or text me, and I'd be happy to start whenever it's convenient for you.
Assistant: (Takes the card.) Thank you very much. I'm glad I spoke with you. I'll definitely be in touch soon.
Publisher: Whenever you like. Have a very nice day, ma'am.
Assistant: Thanks. Likewise. See you later!
