Watchtower Study, "Article 17", June 30-July 6, 2025, We Are Never Alone, Answers.

“I will help you” (IS. 41:10).

1, 2. a) Why can we say that we are never alone in our problems?

Jehovah's servants face difficult situations just like everyone else, but the difference is that they don't do it alone. The example of the little boat in the middle of a storm illustrates very well how those who are suffering may feel. However, the central message is that Jehovah is in the boat with us.

Jehovah never abandons those who love him. Even if he doesn't immediately remove the trial, he always gives the strength to endure it. Isaiah 41:10 is a powerful text that conveys God's closeness. It's not just a general promise; it's personal. Jehovah says, "I will help you," speaking directly to each of his servants.

1, 2. b) What will we see in this article?

The article will focus on four specific ways Jehovah helps, showing that his support is practical and extends to every area of our lives.

First: He guides us with his Word.

Second: It gives us what we need to live.

Third: Protects us spiritually

Fourth: It comforts us when we are sad.

Knowing these ways to help strengthens our faith and makes us feel truly supported.

JEHOVAH GUIDES US

3, 4. How does Jehovah guide us? (Psalm 48:14)

Jehovah's guidance is a clear demonstration of his love and desire for our well-being. Jehovah doesn't force us, but offers us wise direction.

Psalm 48:14 highlights that he wants to guide us forever, implying that his guidance is not limited to specific times, but is constant and reliable.

Jehovah primarily uses the Bible to guide us. By applying texts like Psalm 119:105 or Hebrews 13:18, we learn to live with integrity. These qualities improve our lives and the lives of those around us.

But Jehovah goes further: He gives us real-life examples of people who have gone through similar struggles to ours. This is important because often, when we're in the midst of trouble, we feel like no one understands us. But seeing how Jehovah helped Elijah, Job, and other faithful servants encourages us.

5. Who does Jehovah use to guide us?

Jehovah has formed a spiritual organization where each member has a role that can benefit others. Just as in the first-century congregation, Jehovah continues to use his faithful servants to guide us.

The account in Acts shows how Paul and Silas strengthened the congregations through visits and words of encouragement. Similarly, circuit overseers today strengthen the faith of the brothers and help them maintain unity.

Congregation elders not only handle assignments, but also make time to listen, comfort, and encourage each brother. This reflects the pastoral attitude mentioned in 1 Peter 5:2, 3.

Mature fathers and sisters are also valuable. Titus 2:3-5 shows that their example and advice can help young women grow in faith and balance.

6. What should we do to benefit from Jehovah’s guidance?

Jehovah has always been willing to guide his people, but we must do our part. Proverbs 3:5, 6 invites us to trust Jehovah completely, not only when everything is going well, but also in times of uncertainty.

We shouldn't rely solely on our logic or emotions, because these can sometimes lead us astray. When we acknowledge Jehovah in our decisions and also ask for His guidance through prayer, He gives us clarity and protects us from mistakes that could cause us pain.

Psalm 32:8 emphasizes that Jehovah will instruct and guide us, which suggests personalized and loving guidance. To benefit from this direction, we must read His Word regularly, meditate on it, and ask for His help in applying it. This way, we show our gratitude for the love He shows us in guiding us every step of the way.

JEHOVAH COVERS OUR NEEDS

7. How does Jehovah help us according to Philippians 4:19?

In Philippians 4:19, the apostle Paul assures us that God will fully satisfy all our needs, including both spiritual and material needs. This promise is not simply an expression of comfort, but a guarantee based on Jehovah's constant love for his faithful servants.

Jehovah doesn't expect us to live as if our needs don't matter; quite the opposite. Matthew 6:33 encourages us to keep our priorities straight: seek the Kingdom first. When we do, Jehovah adds everything else.

Furthermore, Hebrews 13:5 reinforces this assurance: “I will never leave you, never will I forsake you.” This gives us confidence, even in times of economic uncertainty or crisis. Jehovah can bless our efforts with decent work or practical help when we need it most, if we do our part responsibly.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT

Philippians 4:19 shows that Jehovah takes care of our material needs. If we trust in Him and put His Kingdom first, He will provide us with the necessities of life, just as He promised in Matthew 6:33 and Hebrews 13:5.

8. How did Jehovah help David?

During the time David was fleeing from King Saul, he lived in constant danger, without a permanent home or guarantees of safety. Despite these difficult circumstances, Jehovah sustained him: He gave him food, a group of faithful men, wisdom to make strategic decisions, and protected him from Saul's reach on multiple occasions.

Divine protection and provision were not only punctual, but constant during that time of anguish. David came to the conclusion that Jehovah never abandons those who are loyal to him. In Psalm 37:25, he speaks not from theory, but from the experience of a lifetime when he says, “I was young, and now I am old.”

This example is very comforting because it reminds us that even when we go through trials or even persecution, Jehovah will continue to be with us, just as he did with David.

9. How does Jehovah provide for the needs of his people today when disasters strike? (See also the pictures.)

Jehovah does not leave his servants alone when they suffer from natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, or floods. Instead of intervening miraculously, he moves his people to act swiftly and generously, just as he did in biblical times.

In the first century, Christians in Antioch sent aid to their brothers and sisters in Jerusalem during a severe famine. That same spirit continues today. Jehovah's Witnesses around the world organize relief committees and volunteers who provide food, clean water, clothing, medicine, and medical care. They also repair homes and Kingdom Halls affected by disasters.

But it's not just physical needs that are met. Emotional and spiritual support is key: words of comfort, pastoral visits, prayers, and the reading of comforting biblical texts are offered.

10, 11. What does Boris's case teach you?

Boris's story poignantly reflects how acts of mercy and generosity can become a powerful form of witness.

Although Boris was not one of Jehovah's Witnesses, his respectful treatment of the students who were did not go unnoticed. When war broke out in Ukraine, he decided to flee to a safer area. Despite not sharing the same faith, the brothers helped him without hesitation, moved by Jehovah's spirit, which compels his people to do good to all, as mentioned in Galatians 6:10.

Boris attended the Memorial and expressed gratitude for the attention Jehovah's Witnesses gave him and his care. This case demonstrates that compassion and generosity can open doors for others to view Jehovah favorably. As stated in 1 Peter 2:12, the good works of God's servants can lead others to glorify Jehovah.

JEHOVAH PROTECTS US

12. What has Jehovah promised to do for his people as a whole? (Psalm 91:1, 2, 14)

Jehovah has assured his people that he will be their protector and refuge in all critical times. Psalm 91:1, 2, 14 emphasizes that those who seek refuge under his shadow will be safe. This protection, above all, is spiritual. Jehovah has promised, as John 17:15 reaffirms, that he will not allow Satan to corrupt pure worship or ruin the genuine faith of his servants.

This guarantees the continuity of His people on Earth, regardless of the pressures or attacks of Satan's world. This promise encourages us to continue trusting in Him, strengthening our faith and remaining within His spiritual dwelling, knowing that no attack can break the relationship we have with our loving heavenly Father.

13. In what ways does Jehovah protect each of his servants?

Jehovah demonstrates his protective love toward one of his servants in very specific ways. First, through the Bible, he provides us with an inexhaustible source of wisdom and guidance. By learning to distinguish between right and wrong, we avoid situations that could harm us physically or spiritually.

On the other hand, Jehovah also protects his servants through the Christian congregation. Within it, we find loving pastors and fellow believers who encourage and strengthen us on our spiritual journey. The positive influence of our fellow believers helps us resist temptations and stay away from bad company.

14. (a) Why doesn’t Jehovah always remove our trials?

Jehovah doesn't always remove our trials, because although he sometimes protected his servants physically, he has also allowed them to suffer persecution or even death. This is to prove Satan a liar, since he claims that God's servants are only faithful to him when all is going well for them.

Furthermore, we live in an unpredictable world, where any of us can be affected by unexpected events. Yet, Jehovah continues to demonstrate his love and loyalty to his faithful servants.

14. b) What does Psalm 9:10 assure us? (See also the note.)

Psalm 9:10 assures us that Jehovah will never abandon those who love and trust in Him. Even though we may face difficult trials, we have the absolute certainty that Jehovah will be by our side, giving us strength, guidance, and support, because of His constant love and loyalty toward His faithful servants.

JEHOVAH COMFORT US

15. How does Jehovah comfort us through prayer, his Word, and our brothers and sisters? (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4)

Jehovah's comfort is a tangible demonstration of his love and care for us. When we pray, Jehovah responds by giving us a peace beyond our understanding, calming our anxieties. Through reading the Bible, we feel God's love, receive wise counsel that eases our suffering, and strengthen our hope in his help.

Furthermore, when we attend Christian meetings, the brothers and sisters, through words based on the Bible, offer us love and encouragement, helping us to remember that we are not alone in our difficulties. In this way, Jehovah uses various means to help us feel his constant comfort, even in times of deep pain.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT

Jehovah comforts us through prayer, his Word, and the support of our brothers and sisters. Through these three things, we feel God's love, receive wise counsel, and strengthen our hope, especially in times of difficulty.

16. What does the case of Nathan and Priscilla teach you?

Nathan and Priscilla, when they moved to expand their service to Jehovah, faced unexpected health and financial challenges. Although at first they thought they had somehow failed, over time they came to understand that Jehovah had never abandoned them.

Constant Bible reading was like listening to a loving friend who encouraged them and gave them wise advice. Thanks to this spiritual support, they learned not to focus so much on difficulties, but to recognize Jehovah's constant help in enduring trials.

His experience shows that even when the results are not what we expected, Jehovah continues to strengthen us and prepare us to overcome future tests of faith.

17. How did a sister named Helga receive comfort? (See also the pictures.)

Helga, a sister from Hungary, faced decades of hardships that affected her self-esteem and left her emotionally drained. However, she recognizes that Jehovah never abandoned her, especially in times when she felt she no longer had the strength to continue. Dealing with work, caring for her sick son, and other problems, Jehovah strengthened her through her siblings.

For 30 years, Helga received Jehovah's comfort through kind words, messages, cards, and sincere praise when she needed it most. Her experience confirms that Jehovah uses the congregation as a constant instrument of comfort, fulfilling his promise to lovingly care for his servants.

How can Jehovah use you to comfort others? (See paragraph 17.)

18. How can we comfort others?

Jehovah grants us the privilege of imitating him in comforting others, especially those experiencing difficulties. To do this, we must listen patiently, show sincere understanding, and offer words of encouragement based on the Bible.

In addition, we can provide practical help, whether through small gestures or concrete support in times of need. We should comfort not only our fellow believers, but also those who do not yet know Jehovah, because going through difficult times together can be an opportunity to bear a powerful witness.

When we reflect God's goodness and comfort, we help our brothers and sisters stand firm, and at the same time, we can awaken in others a desire to draw closer to Jehovah.

JEHOVAH WILL ALWAYS BE BY OUR SIDE

19. What does Jehovah do for us, and how can we imitate him?

Jehovah shows deep interest in us, especially when we are going through difficult times. He guides us, meets our needs, protects us, and comforts us with the love of a good father.

He never abandons us, but remains by our side, reassuring us that we are not alone, as He assures us in Isaiah 41:10.

As we reflect on Jehovah’s loving care, we too can imitate his example, offering support, encouragement, and comfort to those who are going through trials.

In this way, we not only reflect divine compassion, but we also strengthen Christian brotherhood and encourage others to trust more fully in Jehovah.
