Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord (Jer. 17:7).
When someone is baptized, they become part of Jehovah’s family. What joy! Those who enjoy this special relationship with Jehovah surely agree with the words of the psalmist David: “Happy is the man whom you [Jehovah] choose and bring to you to live in your courtyards.” (Ps. 65:4).
Now, Jehovah does not allow just anyone to enter his courtyards. He chooses those who demonstrate that they want to be his friends. (James 4:8) When they dedicate themselves to Jehovah and are baptized, he promises: “You will see that I will shower you with blessings until you lack nothing.” (Mal. 3:10; Jer. 17:8)
Baptism is only the beginning. All Christians want to live up to our dedication, even when we face temptations and tests of faith (Eccl. 5:4, 5). We must also faithfully follow Jesus' example and commands (Matt. 28:19, 20; 1 Pet. 2:21). w24.03 8 pars. 1-3.
What serious responsibility do all dedicated, baptized Christians have? (Ecclesiastes 5:4, 5)
Of course, baptism is just the beginning. All Christians want to live up to our dedication, even when we face temptations and trials of faith (read Ecclesiastes 5:4, 5). We must also faithfully follow Jesus' example and commands (Matt. 28:19, 20; 1 Pet. 2:21). This article will help us achieve this.
In what sense do Jesus' disciples carry a "torture stake"? (Luke 9:23)
Don't think that after baptism, your life will be a bed of roses. In fact, Jesus said that each of his disciples would have to carry their own “torture stake day after day” (read Luke 9:23). Was Jesus saying that his followers would always suffer? Far from it. What he meant was that, apart from the blessings they would receive, they would face difficulties, some of them painful (2 Tim. 3:12).
What blessings did Jesus promise to those who make sacrifices for the Kingdom?
You may have already faced family opposition or made some material sacrifice to put the Kingdom first. (Matt. 6:33) If so, rest assured that Jehovah knows all you have done for him. (Heb. 6:10) You have likely seen how true Jesus’ words are: “There is no one who has left house, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, or fields for me and for the good news. But he will not receive now in this present time 100 times as much—houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and fields, with persecutions—and in the coming system, eternal life.” (Mark 10:29, 30) The blessings you have received far outweigh the sacrifices you have had to make. (Ps. 37:4)
