Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2025

Monday, June 2, 2025

O Jehovah, hear my prayer; pay attention to my pleas for help. I call to you in the day of my trouble, for you will answer me (Ps. 86:6, 7).

Throughout his life, David faced many dangerous enemies, and he often prayed to Jehovah for help. He was convinced that Jehovah heard and answered his prayers. You can have that same assurance. The Bible shows us that Jehovah can give us the wisdom and strength we need to endure.

He can also use our spiritual family or even people who don't worship him to help us. Although Jehovah may not always answer our prayers the way we hope, we know that he will.

He will give us exactly what we need, and He will do it at the most opportune time. So let us continue to pray in faith, confident that Jehovah will take care of us now and that in the new world he will satisfy “the desire of every living creature.”

How does Soo Hing's experience encourage you? (See also the image.)

A sister named Soo Hing felt that Jehovah used her doctor to help her. Her son, who has several mental illnesses, suffered a terrible accident. Soo Hing and her husband quit their jobs to care for him. This led to financial problems. The situation was so difficult that Soo Hing said she couldn't take it anymore, that she was at the end of her tether. So she opened her heart to Jehovah and asked for his help. The doctor took an interest in her case, and thanks to this, they secured government assistance and a cheaper place to live. Afterward, Soo Hing said: “We have seen Jehovah's hand in all this. Surely he ‘hears prayers.’” (Ps. 65:2)

15. What helped a sister see that Jehovah did answer her prayers?

Jehovah doesn't usually answer our prayers in a spectacular way. But the answers he gives us are just what we need to remain loyal. So we must pay close attention to how our heavenly Father answers us.

One sister named Yoko felt like her prayers were going unanswered. But then she began writing down everything she asked of Jehovah. After a while, she reviewed her notes and realized that Jehovah had answered most of her prayers, even some she hadn't even remembered. It's good to occasionally take time to meditate on how Jehovah is answering our prayers (Ps. 66:19, 20).

How does faith help us when we pray? (Hebrews 11:6)

It takes faith not only to pray to Jehovah, but also to accept his answer, whatever it may be. (Read Hebrews 11:6.) Consider the example of Mike and Chrissy, a couple who had a goal of serving at Bethel. Mike says: “We sent the application many times and constantly prayed to Jehovah about this matter, but we were never invited.” Mike and Chrissy continued to trust that Jehovah knew where they would be most useful.

They continued doing everything they could: serving as regular pioneers where help was needed and assisting with construction projects. Now they're involved in circuit work. Mike explains, "Jehovah hasn't always answered our prayers the way we expected, but He has, and He has answered them even better than we had imagined."

According to Psalm 86:6, 7, what are we sure of?

(Read Psalm 86:6, 7.) David was convinced that Jehovah heard and answered his prayers. You can have that same assurance. The examples we've discussed in this article show us that Jehovah can give us the wisdom and strength we need to endure. We've also seen that he can use our spiritual family or even people who don't worship him to help us.

Although Jehovah may not always answer our prayers the way we hope, we know that he will. He will give us exactly what we need, and he will do so at the most opportune time. So let us continue to pray with faith, confident that Jehovah will care for us now and that in the new world he will satisfy “the desire of every living creature.” (Ps. 145:16).
