Make return visits (4 mins.) INFORMAL PREACHING. In a previous conversation, the person told you that he or she likes nature (lmd lesson 9 point 4).
Setting: The publisher returns to a woman who, in a previous conversation, expressed her love of nature and animals. During the conversation, the woman expresses a concern: Why are there dangerous animals if God is loving? The publisher takes the opportunity to explain this to her based on the Bible.
Publisher(s): Hello, [Name]. It's nice to see you again, just like we agreed last time. How have you been?
Assistant: Hello, [Name]. Well, thank goodness. Come in, sit down for a moment. I just finished watering my plants.
Publisher(s): Thank you, that's so kind. I can tell you love plants. You told me last time that you really like nature and animals, right?
Assistant: I'm fascinated. Everything related to nature fills me with peace. But you know, I've been thinking about something ever since.
Publisher(s): Oh yeah? What's that, [Name]?
Assistant: Well... if God is as loving as they say, why did he create animals as dangerous as lions and bears? Why do they have that instinct to kill? Sometimes that confuses me.
Publisher(s): What a good question, [Name]. Honestly, not everyone stops to think about that. It's natural to wonder, because animals today either hunt for food or attack for protection. That instinct to defend or hunt is part of how they've survived in this world so different from the one God created in the beginning.
Assistant: Oh, right, that's why they attack: to eat or to defend themselves. Makes sense.
Publisher(s): Exactly. But note that, according to the Bible, things weren't like that in the beginning. When God created humans and animals, his purpose wasn't for them to kill each other. He created them to live in peace, in harmony, without violence. The circumstances of that time were completely different from those of today.
Assistant: And the animals weren't dangerous?
Publisher(s): No, not at all. Animals were not a threat to humans, nor humans to animals. Look at what this text says in Genesis 1:29. Would you like to read it for yourself?
Assistant: Yes, of course. (Reads): "I have given you every plant in the land bearing seed, and every tree with seed-bearing fruit on it. Let it be for you to eat."
Publisher(s): That's right. God gave the first humans, Adam and Eve, plant food—that is, fruits and vegetables, not meat. And notice that he did the same with animals. Look at the next verse, Genesis 1:30.
Assistant: "And to all the wild animals of the earth, to all the flying animals of the sky, and to everything that moves on the ground and has life, I give all green vegetation as food."
Oh! So the animals didn't kill either...
Publisher(s): Exactly. In the beginning, everything was peaceful. Animals didn't need to hunt or attack to survive. God designed them to feed on vegetation, not meat. But over time, because of the sin and imperfection that entered the world, that changed. That's why today we see many animals hunting or defending themselves. It's a distortion of that beautiful original purpose.
Assistant: Wow, I didn't know that. I always thought lions or bears had always been aggressive... but now I understand that wasn't the case from the beginning. How nice it would be if they were as gentle as they used to be.
Publisher(s): And you know, [Name]? Jehovah promises that in the future things will return to the way they were in the beginning. Animals will be tame again, and there will be no fear or danger. In fact, there are prophecies in the Bible that show just that.
Assistant: Is God really going to make animals as tame as when He created them?
Publisher(s): Yes, that's what He promises in His Word. And not only that, He also promises a world filled with peace where human beings will enjoy nature safely. These and many other questions can be answered with the help of a Bible study.
Assistant: How interesting. I'd like to know more about that. Maybe we could talk about that Bible course next time you come, what do you think?
Publisher(s): Of course, [Name], I'd love to. The Bible has wonderful answers about our Creator and the beautiful future He promises us. We can see what it would be like to live in the peace He loves so much.
Assistant: Perfect, sounds great to me. Then see you on the next visit.
Publisher(s): Yes, God willing. It was a pleasure talking to you again, [Name]. Take care.
Assistant: Likewise, [Name]. Have a nice day.
