What good qualities did Jesus see in this young ruler?

Jesus saw in the young man a sincere desire to do what was right, as he approached him seeking to know how to obtain eternal life. He also highlighted his sincerity, as he had been keeping the commandments since he was young. Furthermore, the young man showed a receptive heart when listening to Jesus' advice, reflecting his willingness to learn and improve.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Jesus saw the sincerity of the young man, the young man ran up to Jesus and called him good teacher, showing respect and a genuine interest in obtaining spiritual guidance.

He also saw his obedience to the law, stating that he had not kept the commandments since he was young, indicating that he was a morally upright person with a strong sense of responsibility towards Divine norms.

He also saw his humility, since although he was rich and of prominent position, he showed willingness to learn and seek the guidance of Jesus, which reveals a humble attitude.

The young man approached Jesus and asked him what he must do to inherit eternal life. This shows that the young man was willing to learn and improve.

Jesus also saw the young man's humility despite his position of authority, the young man approached Jesus with humility.

Jesus saw in this young ruler a combination of qualities that made him stand out as a person with great potential to follow God. First, Jesus saw the young man's willingness to change and improve. Even though the young man had kept God's commandments since his youth, he was willing to listen and learn from Jesus.

Furthermore, he saw the young man's respect for authority. Despite being a ruler, the young man approached Jesus with respect and recognition of his authority. This shows that he was willing to listen and learn from someone he considered an authority on the subject.

Jesus saw the young man's honesty. The young man was honest with himself and with Jesus about his limitations and weaknesses.

Why did Jesus need love and frankness to advise this man?

Jesus needed to be frank with the young man because, despite his sincerity and his fulfillment of the commandments, the young man was tied to his riches, which was an obstacle to following him fully. Frankness was essential to point out what he lacked, even though that truth was difficult to accept. At the same time, Jesus spoke to him with love, seeking to help him understand what he needed to obtain eternal life, without rejecting or condemning him.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Jesus needed love to see his potential by showing empathy and a genuine interest in his spiritual well-being. Although the young man had a major flaw, Jesus saw his qualities and desired to help him attain eternal life.

And directness helped Jesus address a deep problem. The young man had an attachment to riches that kept him from being a full follower of Jesus. This was a delicate matter, since touching his wealth requires direct confrontation. Jesus told him bluntly, “Sell all that you have and give the money to the poor.”

The situation called for an honest and direct answer. The young man was willing to listen, but he needed a clear and concise answer that would help him understand what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus' frankness allowed the young man to understand the truth and make an informed decision.

Frankness is a form of love. When Jesus spoke to the young man with frankness, He was showing that He cared about him. Jesus' frankness was a form of love that helped the young man understand the truth and make an informed decision about his life.

Furthermore, the situation called for a response that was both honest and compassionate. The young man was willing to listen and learn, but he was also in a position of authority and wealth that could have led him to feel comfortable and satisfied with his current life. Jesus needed to use directness to challenge the young man and make him realize that there was more to life than simply keeping the commandments.

What do we learn from Jesus' example?

We learn that when giving advice, it is important to be frank and clear, pointing out what is missing or what needs to change, but always with a heart full of compassion. Jesus showed how to balance frankness with love, helping the young man see what he really needed to grow spiritually. He also teaches us that sometimes we must be direct in order to help people move forward on their path, even if that means confronting them with the truth.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

We learn that if we want our students to progress we need to speak to them with affection, but at the same time with frankness, just as Jesus did with the rich man.

We learn that frankness is essential because it allows us to communicate effectively and honestly. If we want our students to progress, we need to speak to them with affection, but also with frankness, accompanied by love and compassion, so that we do not hurt others with our words.

Just as Jesus used frankness to counsel the young ruler, we must do the same. We must do the same. We must be bold and honest in our communication. In doing so, we can follow the example of using frankness to help our students build a deeper and more meaningful relationship with our creator. In doing so, Jehovah will be happy with us because we will be showing love and respect for others and following his principles of justice and truth.
