LIVING AS CHRISTIANS:  August 21-27, 2023, "What goals do you have for the new year of service?", Analysis and Answers.

“What goals do you have for the new service year?” (10 min.): Analysis with the audience.

What specific goals have you set for yourself in the following areas, and what steps do you plan to take to achieve them?

Bible reading, personal study, meeting attendance, and commentary (w02 6/15 15 ¶14-15)

An admirable goal might be to read the entire Bible, and to achieve this, we could set up a plan that includes reading the four gospels as the first goal, followed by the rest of the Christian Greek scriptures. Then you could move on to the books of Moses and the historical books up to Esther. Keeping track of the start and end dates for each book can be helpful and satisfying.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Once we have reached the goal of reading the entire Bible, we can take further steps for more productive and rewarding ongoing study. And one way to do it is by selecting information and analyzing it before starting to read each biblical book. Since all the publications mentioned are based on the Bible, and all scripture is inspired by God and beneficial. And the book Insights for Understanding the Scriptures offer valuable insight into the historical context, style, and benefits of each book.

We can propose to talk to a different brother at each meeting. This will not only help build stronger relationships within the congregation, but will also allow us to get to know our brothers and sisters better.

And we could also set ourselves the goal of submitting comments in our own words, instead of relying entirely on posts. This will help to reason and better understand the content. We can also discuss how the information we are studying can help us in our daily lives.

Preaching (w23.05 27 ¶4-5)

We could make it a goal to strive not only to preach, but also to take time to lead Bible Studies with interested people and help them grow spiritually. This will give a new direction to our preaching. It will also move us to change our presentations so that they are more effective and thus be able to reach the hearts of people to encourage them to act.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Another goal in preaching could be to research and learn new preaching techniques and establish and incorporate them into our service. This could include the use of digital tools, videos and improving our communication skills, as well as opening the doors to participate in new fields of preaching such as informal or letter preaching.

We could also propose to share positive preaching experiences with other brothers. Or also talk about topics that we have read in our personal study and how it has helped us in our life, they will also inspire others to talk about their experiences in their service and thus we will encourage each other.

Christian qualities (w22.04 23 ¶5-6)

A good goal would be to regularly assess ourselves with Jehovah's help. and we do it when we pray for discernment to identify the areas of our personality that we need to improve and for the strength to do so.

Another goal we can focus on is choosing a specific quality we want to develop, such as empathy, forgiveness, patience, or humility. Since we must direct our efforts to work on any of the particular qualities that we need to display. We should also investigate the quality we have chosen and look for Biblical examples and teachings that highlight it. Finally we must meditate on the scriptures and the lessons learned from the biblical characters who demonstrated this quality.

Other goals:

We can set specific goals for studying a particular Bible book, topic, or doctrine, and establish a reading and study plan to deepen our understanding of the scriptures.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

We could also set a goal of starting a specific number of spiritual conversations each week. This could include talking about the Bible or spiritual topics with friends, co-workers, or family members.

In addition, we can set a goal to volunteer for special activities, such as Kingdom Hall construction or renovation, and Kingdom Hall maintenance work.

We could also set a goal to regularly visit or call older or sick siblings within the congregation to provide support and encouragement.
