DAILY TEXT, Tuesday December 27, God is love (1 John 4:16).
Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022Thursday December 29
God is love (1 John 4:16).
The Apostle John lived a long and exciting life. He faced all kinds of difficult situations that could have weakened his faith. But he always did his best to obey Jesus' commandments, including loving his brothers. Therefore, John was convinced that Jehovah and Jesus loved him and that they would give him the strength to overcome any obstacle (John 14:15-17; 15:10). Neither Satan nor his world could do anything to stop John from showing his brothers his love for them through words and actions. Like John, we live in a world dominated by Satan, who is full of hate (1 John 3:1, 10). He wants us to stop loving our brothers, but he can't get it unless we let him. Therefore, let us be determined to love our brothers, to express it with words and demonstrate it with actions. Then we will feel the immense joy of being part of Jehovah's family and we will have a truly happy life (1 John 4:7). w21.01 2:18-19.
What should householders remember?
Of course, one important way a head shows love for his family is by providing for their material needs (1 Tim. 5:8). But he must never forget that the most important thing is that he attend to his spiritual needs (Matt. 5:3). Let's look at the example of Jesus. According to the Gospel of John, while Jesus was on the stake, he kept thinking about his family. John and Jesus' mother, Mary, were at the place of execution. Jesus, despite her intense suffering, charged John to take care of her (John 19:26, 27). Mary had other children who would no doubt provide for her material needs, but apparently none of them had yet become disciples of Jesus. So he made sure that his mother was well cared for both physically and spiritually.
What responsibilities did Juan have?
Juan had many responsibilities. Since he was an apostle, he had to set an example in preaching. And besides, it is possible that he was married. In such a case, he would have to take care of his family in a material but also spiritual sense (1 Cor. 9: 5). What can family heads learn from it?
Why is it important that cabezas attend to the spiritual needs of their families?
Household heads may also have several important responsibilities. For example, they must be good workers so that their conduct speaks well of Jehovah (Eph. 6:5, 6; Titus 2:9, 10). And they may have responsibilities in the congregation, such as shepherding the brothers and being good examples in preaching. But it is also his responsibility to study the Bible regularly with his wife and his children. Their families will heartily appreciate everything they do to care for them physically, emotionally, and spiritually (Eph. 5:28, 29; 6:4).
Why shouldn't we hate our brothers?
John also warned us that we should not hate our brothers. If we ignore it, we expose ourselves to being manipulated by Satan (1 John 2:11; 3:15). That same thing happened to some at the end of the first century. Satan did everything he could to foment hatred and division among God's servants. By the time John wrote to them, some with the same satanic spirit had crept into the congregation. One of them was Diotrephes, who was causing serious divisions in a congregation. He had no respect for traveling overseers sent out by the governing body. He was so arrogant that he even tried to throw out of the congregation those who wanted to treat the brothers he did not like with hospitality (3 John 9, 10). Today, Satan is still trying his best to use the "divide and conquer" tactic.
