LET'S BE BETTER TEACHERS: November 28-December 4, 2022, Bible Course, Lesson 6, Prepared Assignment.

Bible course (5 min.): lff lesson 08 introduction of "Let's go deeper into the subject" and point 4 (th lec. 6).

POSTER: Sonia, we are going to delve into the subject to learn a little more about how we can become friends with Jehovah and why he is the best friend we can have. To do this we are going to read Genesis 12:1,4 A story about Abraham that will give us an idea of what it really means to be a friend of Jehovah, And then we answer some questions. Can you read it please.

STUDENT: Sure, it says like this…….

PUBLISHER: Thank you Sonia, According to the text read, what did Jehovah ask Abraham?

STUDENT: Jehovah asked Abraham to leave his country, leave his relatives and those of his father's house and go to the country that he would show him.

POSTER: Okay, and look at the first part of the verse, what kind of request was this?

STUDENT: It was an order because Jehovah told him to "leave" your country and then he told him "leave" your relatives and your father's house and then he told him "go" to the country that I will show you, as we can see it was an order that Jehovah gave to Abraham.

POSTER: Excellent! But for a moment, put yourself in Abraham's place. Imagine this situation. Would it be easy for him to leave his house, the comfort and prosperity he had in this prosperous city? Notice, even he would have to abandon some of his relatives. Furthermore he did not know where he would go, because Jehovah did not tell him at the time. Do you think it would be easy to go to make that decision?

STUDENT: No, of course not. It would not be easy for anyone to make such a decision, much less to go to an unknown place until then and leave behind a whole life because Abraham was already 75 years old.

PUBLISHER: Correct! But now we are going to focus on verse 2 to answer what did Jehovah promise Abraham?

STUDENT: Jehovah promised Abraham that he would make a great nation out of him. Furthermore, he would give Me blessings by magnifying his name And even make Abraham himself become a blessing.

ADVERTISER: Jehovah gave Abraham an order and at that moment he does not tell him where he should go. But notice that if he tells him how he is going to reward him: he will make him the father of a Great nation through his offspring. This nation will have his blessing and also his name will become great, because he will be remembered forever. So we see that this was not a simple order, it was a command with a promise. It was in fact a "covenant". But what else can you notice in that promise or covenant?

STUDENT: Well, I notice that Jehovah had the purpose of blessing many people on earth and for that, he was using Abraham.

PUBLISHER: Excellent! That's right, because that pact would pass to his offspring as we will see later. But notice that it is very interesting to see Jehovah's way of acting. Knowing the impact of this mandate on Abrahan, it immediately happens to strengthen him and dispel his fears and doubts. It makes him see that he has nothing to fear because he is going to greatly bless and protect both him and his offspring as indicated in verse 3. But let's continue, what did Abraham do after receiving Jehovah's instructions?

STUDENT: Abraham was obedient and left Haran as Jehovah asked and accompanied him.

PUBLISHER: So, according to what we have analyzed up to this point, what does it mean to be a friend of Jehovah?

STUDENT: Well, from what I can understand, being a friend of Jehovah implies first of all being obedient, not questioning his commands or instructions. It also implies having great faith and trust in him and willingly and diligently obeying. But on the other hand, being a friend of Jehovah also implies having his blessing and protection, and earning the guarantee of being part of his purpose on earth forever.

PUBLISHER: Very well and being clear about what it means to be a friend of Jehovah, what would you answer to these questions? Is Jehovah the best friend someone can have? Do you want to be a friend of Jehovah?

STUDENT: Now I have understood that Jehovah is the best friend in the whole universe and I want to really become his friend.

PUBLISHER: Excellent! You have understood perfectly. Now let's move on to the next point.
