Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022
Saturday November 19
This is the carpenter, the son of Mary (Mark 6:3).
Jehovah chose excellent parents for Jesus (Matt. 1:18-23; Luke 1:26-38). Mary's heartfelt words that we read about in the Bible show how much she loved Jehovah and his Word (Luke 1:46-55). And the way Joseph reacted to Jehovah's leading shows that he loved him and wanted to please him (Matt. 1:24). Notice that Jehovah did not choose wealthy parents for Jesus. The sacrifice that Joseph and Mary offered after the birth of Jesus indicates that they were poor (Luke 2:24). They must have lived a simple life, especially since they had at least seven children (Matt. 13:55, 56). Jehovah protected his Son from some dangers, but allowed her to go through some difficult situations (Matt. 2: 13-15). For example, there were relatives of Jesus who did not at first believe that he was the Messiah (Mark 3:21; John 7:5). It is also likely that he had to deal with the death of his adoptive father, José. w20.10 26-27 pars. 4-6.
What questions can help couples with children? y According to Proverbs 2:1-6, what should parents teach their children?
If you and your spouse want to have children, ask yourself: “Are we the kind of humble, spiritual people that Jehovah would choose to entrust with the care of a newborn?” (Ps. 127:3, 4). On the other hand, if you are already a parent, ask yourself, “Do I teach my children the importance of working hard?” (Eccl. 3:12, 13). "Do I do everything possible to protect them from the physical and moral dangers of Satan's world?" (Prov. 22:3). Of course, you cannot protect them from all of life's troubles. That would be impossible. But you can prepare them with love to face them. How? Teaching them to seek guidance from the Bible (read Proverbs 2:1-6). For example, if a family member decides to leave the truth, show his children with God's Word why it is so important to be loyal to Jehovah (Ps. 31:23). Or, if a loved one dies,
How did Joseph and Mary carry out the command at Deuteronomy 6:6, 7?
Joseph and Mary were able to help Jesus earn God's approval because they followed Jehovah's instructions to parents.—Read Deuteronomy 6:6, 7. They both loved Jehovah very much, and the most important thing for them was to help their children to have that same love.
What important decisions did José and María make?
José and María decided to maintain a good spiritual program for the family. They went to the synagogue in Nazareth every week and to Jerusalem every year to celebrate the Passover (Luke 2:41; 4:16). Perhaps they took advantage of those family trips to Jerusalem to teach Jesus and his brothers the history of Jehovah's people. And perhaps along the way they visited places mentioned in the Scriptures. The larger the family, the more difficult it must have been for José and María to maintain the spiritual routine. But it was worth putting the worship of Jehovah first, as the family enjoyed good spiritual health.
What lessons can Christian parents learn from Joseph and Mary?
What can Christian parents learn from Joseph and Mary? Above all else, show your children by what you say and do that you love Jehovah from the heart. The greatest gift you can give them is to help them love Jehovah. And one of the most important lessons they can teach them is how to maintain a good program that includes study, prayer, meetings, and preaching (1 Tim. 6:6). Sure, they must give them the material things they need (1 Tim. 5:8). But remember: what will help your children survive the end of this old system and enter God's new world will not be material things, but their good friendship with Jehovah (Ezek. 7:19; 1 Tim. 4:8 ).
