APLPLY YOUR SELFTO THE FIELD MINISTRY: 31-October-6-November 2022, Speech, Lesson 15, Prepared Assignment.
Talk (5 mins.): w13 8/15 28-29. Title: Imitate Elisha's Humility in Serving Jehovah (th lec. 15).
There is a moral in which he talks about a farm, where the farm dog gets sick, when everyone found out, none showed interest. Many said that he did nothing, provided no food, and was of no use on the farm. That night, while the dog was sick, a thief entered and stole all the food from the farm and now, hungry, they realized that although this dog was not like the other animals on the farm, his work was very important.
What can we learn from this moral? Sometimes simple tasks may seem to have been of great use to us, but they are not, and the same is true in our worship of Jehovah, there are tasks that seem not to have a great impact on worship. Jehovah, but the following example will help us see that this way of thinking is wrong, and for this we are going to read, we are going to see the example of Elisha.
Eliseo was a man who had his job but suddenly the next assignment came, let's please read the book of 1 Kings 19 verse 16. It says………
Although in this text it is said that Elisha was going to take the place of the prophet. At first he had to develop other tasks. How long did he have to wait for Elisha to be a prophet? Well, it was nothing less than 6 years. What did he do in all that time?Let us now read the book of 2 Kings Chapter 3 verse 11, It goes like this……..
I note, what Eliseo did during those 6 years, the text says he poured water on Elijah's hands, that is, he was in charge of washing Elijah's hands. What do you think about this assignment? Would you have left your job to go do a simple job for 6 years?
The truth is that Eliseo was very happy doing this job. Although it was a very humble job, he was willing to make sacrifices to fulfill this assignment. After the 6 years when Eliseo found out that ElĂas was going to leave him, but he did not want to get away from him and accompanied him until the last moment.
In our service to Jehovah there are also humble tasks like the ones Elisha did, but you have the humility to do it. For example, many brothers have left their comfortable lives to serve on construction projects or at Bethel doing menial jobs.
Like, for example, washing dishes, trimming gardens, but let's not think so far, let's think at the local level, for example, Let's think of the brother who opens the doors when we have meetings or the brother who goes to the bathrooms after the meeting ends, and what can we say? of the brother who waters the garden, it is true that they are tasks that sometimes go unnoticed but in reality they are very important, what does Jehovah think of this?
Look at what Hebrews 6:10 says. Because God is not unjust and he does not forget the works and you. What works have served the saints and continue to serve, Jehovah does not forget you dear brother who does this work that apparently is simple and humble, but for Jehovah it is of great value.
