Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022
Tuesday, August 23, 2022
Let's keep loving one another, because love is from God (1 John 4:7).
Many faithful Christians have to work full time to provide for themselves and their families. Still, they support God's organization in every way they can. For example, some help with relief efforts, others work on construction sites, and we can all donate to the global work. This is how they show their love for God and their neighbor. In addition, every week we show love to our brothers by attending the meetings even though we are tired, by participating in them even though we are nervous, and by trying to encourage others before or after the meeting even though we also have our problems (Heb. 10:24, 25). How much we appreciate everything our dear brothers and sisters do. w21.01 10 para. eleven
How has Jehovah shown us that he loves us?
If a person loves another, it is not enough to say it with words. There is a saying that says: "Works are love and not good reasons." Indeed, love must be demonstrated by actions (compare James 2:17, 26). For example, Jehovah loves us (1 John 4:19). And he expresses his love for us with beautiful words in the Bible (Ps. 25:10; Rom. 8:38, 39). However, we know that he loves us not only because of what he says, but also because of what he does. John wrote, “This is how the love of God was revealed in our case: God sent his only begotten Son into the world so that we might gain life through him” (1 John 4:9). Jehovah allowed his beloved Son to suffer and die for us (John 3:16). So we are convinced that he loves us.
How did Jesus show that he loves us?
And what about Jesus? He told his disciples that he loved them (John 13:1; 15:15). But he demonstrated the deep love that he had for them and that he has for us not only by what he said, but also by what he did. He stated, “Greater love has no one than he who lays down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). As we think about what Jehovah and Jesus have done for us, what should we do?
