Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022
Friday July 29, 2022
A good word revives the heart (Prov. 12:25).
When you read a Bible passage that shows that staying calm and trusting in Jehovah gives us strength, try to memorize some important verses. You may find it helpful to read them out loud or write them down and review them from time to time. Jehovah commanded Joshua to read the book of the Law and meditate on it day and night so that he would act wisely. Those reminders would help him overcome any fears he might have in the midst of the circumstances in which he found himself (Josh. 1:8, 9). In God's Word, we will find many ideas that can help us remain calm in situations that would normally cause us fear or anxiety (Ps. 27:1-3; Prov. 3:25, 26). In our meetings, we benefit from what is taught from the platform, of the comments that are offered and of the good conversations with our brothers (Heb. 10:24, 25). We can also be very encouraged by opening our hearts to a dear friend in the congregation. w21.01 6 paras. 15, 16.
How can we find authentic protection?
2) Trust in Jehovah, not in yourself. In the eighth century before our era, the people of Judah were so afraid that the Assyrians would attack them and end up as their slaves that they asked Egypt for help (Isa. 30:1, 2). Jehovah warned them that this path would lead to disaster (Isa. 30:7, 12, 13). Through Isaiah, Jehovah told his people how to find authentic protection. Isaiah said, “Your strength will depend on your keeping calm and showing confidence” in Jehovah.—Isa. 30:15b.
Name some situations in which we can show confidence in Jehovah.
Let's look at some situations in which we can show that we trust in Jehovah. Imagine that he is offered a very well paid job but it will take up a lot of his time and affect his spiritual activities. Or perhaps a co-worker shows romantic interest in him but he is not a baptized Witness. A family member you love very much may even give you this ultimatum: "Choose: either your God or me." Facing these situations is not easy, but in each case Jehovah gives us the guidance we need (Matt. 6:33; 10:37; 1 Cor. 7:39). Now, will we show confidence in him and follow his lead?
