Maintain the unity of spirit through the bond of peace (Eph. 4:3).

The desire for order and peace that distinguished first-century Christians is clearly seen in Jehovah's organization today.—Acts 16:4, 5. As a sample button, if we were to attend a Watchtower Study in another congregation, even in another country, we would know how the study would be conducted and what article was being discussed. We would feel at home right away. This beautiful unity is only possible thanks to the spirit of God (Zeph. 3:9, footnote). What can we do? Let's ask ourselves: “Do I foster peace and unity in the congregation? Am I obedient to the brothers who run it? Can others trust me, especially if I have responsibilities in the congregation? Am I punctual, helpful and willing to help? (Jas. 3:17). If we feel that we can improve in any of these areas, let us ask Jehovah for holy spirit. The more we allow it to shape our personality and influence our actions, the more our brothers will love and value us. w20.10 23 paras. 12, 13

More than a hundred years ago, how did Jehovah's servants know what he expected of them, and how did they react?

Nowadays. Jehovah continues to guide and give strength to his people. Of course, that guidance comes primarily through his inspired Word. It records the ministry of Jesus and the command he gave his disciples to carry on the work he had begun (Matt. 28:19, 20). As early as July 1881, this magazine said: “We were not called and anointed to receive honor and accumulate riches, but to spend and spend ourselves, and to preach the good news.” The pamphlet To Whom the Work Is Entrusted, published in 1919, said: “The work seems overwhelming, but it belongs to the Lord, and with his support we will carry it on.” Indeed, like the first-century Christians, these brothers boldly threw themselves into the work, confident that the holy spirit would help them preach to all classes of people.

What methods has Jehovah's organization used to spread the good news?

To spread the good news, Jehovah's organization has used and continues to use the best tools available. Among these we can mention printed publications, the “Photo-Drama of Creation”, gramophones, loudspeaker cars, radio programs and, more recently, digital technology. Also, no one in history has translated into as many languages as God's organization does. And why do we do it? For all kinds of people to hear the good news in their own language. Jehovah is impartial and foretold that the good news would be told “to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people” (Rev. 14:6, 7). He wants the Kingdom message to be available to all people.

And what about the people who are hard to reach, perhaps because they live in high-security buildings? In order to reach them, Jehovah helped his organization to begin testing various methods of public preaching. For example, in 2001 the Governing Body approved the use of carts and other displays in France, and later in other places as well. The results were positive. In 2011, a pilot program was launched in one of the busiest areas of New York City (United States). In the first year, 102,129 books and 68,911 magazines were left with people, and 4,701 people requested a Bible course. It was clear that the holy spirit supported this work. For this reason, the Governing Body approved the use of publication racks throughout the world.
