Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

Saturday June 18, 2022

Go and make disciples. Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you (Matt. 28:19, 20).

Jesus made it clear that we are to teach the people what he commanded. Now, it is important not to overlook the fact that Jesus did not simply say: "Teach them everything I have commanded you." Rather, he said, "Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you." If we want to fulfill that detail, we have to teach our student what to do but also how to do it (Acts 8:31). When we teach a person the Bible, we teach him what God expects us to do. But that is not enough. We must teach him to put what he learns into practice in his daily life (John 14:15; 1 John 2:3). By our example we can show you how to apply Bible principles in school, at work, or when choosing entertainment. And when we pray with the student, we can ask Jehovah for his holy spirit to guide him.—John 16:13. w20.11 2, 3 paras. 3-5

In what ways does a person learn to drive a car?

Let's go back to the example of the person learning to drive a car. As he drives down the road, he not only learns from what his instructor next to him tells him, but also from what he sees other good drivers do. For example, the instructor may ask you to notice a vehicle that politely allows another vehicle to merge into traffic ahead of it. Or maybe it highlights how someone dims the lights so as not to dazzle oncoming traffic. With these examples, the student learns very valuable lessons.

What will help the student to progress spiritually?

Similarly, the student who begins to travel the path that leads to life learns not only from his teacher, but also from the good examples of other servants of Jehovah. That is why it is so important for a person's spiritual progress to attend Christian meetings. What he hears in them will increase his knowledge, strengthen his faith, and help him love God more (Acts 15:30-32). And not only that, there his teacher can introduce him to brothers and sisters with whom he may have many things in common. What examples of Christian love can the student see in the congregation? Let's see some cases that could occur.
