Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

They transmitted to the brothers the decisions made by the apostles and elders (Acts 16:4).

In the first century, the governing body, which was in Jerusalem, worked in unity to preserve order and peace for God's people (Acts 2:42). For example, when around the year 49 the issue of circumcision arose, the governing body discussed the matter under the guidance of the holy spirit. If the congregation had remained divided, the preaching would have been affected. Although the apostles and elders were Jewish, they were not influenced by their traditions or those who taught them. Rather, they sought guidance from God's Word and spirit (Acts 15:1, 2, 5-20, 28). The result was that Jehovah blessed the decision, the congregation preserved peace and unity, and the preaching work continued.—Acts 15:30, 31; 16:5. Nowadays, Jehovah's organization has endeavored to preserve the order and peace of God's people. w20.10 22, 23 pars. 11, 12

As seen at Colossians 1:9, 10, how did Jehovah help his first-century servants to acquire “accurate knowledge of his will”?

In the first century. Jehovah loves to educate his people (Ps. 32:8). He wants his beloved children to know him, love him and live forever. All this is possible only thanks to the education that he gives us (John 17:3). In the first century, he used the Christian congregation to educate his people (see Colossians 1:9, 10). And much of the help was given through the spirit, the “helper” that Jesus had promised (John 14:16). This helped the disciples to understand the Word of God and reminded them of all the things that Jesus said and did, which were later recorded in the Gospels. This knowledge strengthened the faith of those Christians, as well as their love for God, his Son and his brothers.

How have you seen Jehovah's prophecy at Isaiah 2:2, 3 come true?

Nowadays. Jehovah foretold that “in the final part of the days” people from all nations would climb his symbolic mountain to teach them of his ways (see Isaiah 2:2, 3). Today we see this prophecy fulfilled. True worship has set itself far above all forms of false worship. And what a spiritual banquet Jehovah offers us! (Isaiah 25:6). Through “the faithful and wise slave,” he gives us a great deal of food, but also an amazing variety, from articles and speeches to cartoons and videos (Matt. 24:45). We feel like Elihu, Job's friend, who rightly said about God: "What instructor is like him?" (Job 36:22).
