Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

Thursday June 30, 2022

Jehovah will hear my plea; Jehovah will accept my prayer (Ps. 6:9).

Has a friend or family member betrayed our trust? In that case, we will benefit from reviewing the account of a son of King David named Absalom (2 Sam. 15:5-14, 31; 18:6-14). Keeping the story in mind, let us tell Jehovah how we feel about being treated badly.—Ps. 6:6-8. Next, imagine how David must have felt. He loved Absalom and trusted Ahithophel. Still, the two betrayed him. They caused him a lot of pain and even tried to kill him. David might have thought that his other friends had also joined Absalom and mistrusted them. He could have focused on his feelings and tried to flee the country alone. Or, desperate, he could have given up. Rather, what he did was pray to Jehovah for his help. He also asked his friends for help. And, when he made decisions, he put them into practice quickly, without procrastinating. He continued to trust Jehovah and his friends. w21.03 15 paras. 7, 8; 17 paras. 10, 11

What can we ask of Jehovah?

1) Pray. Before reading those verses, let's tell Jehovah about our problem and how we feel. Let's be specific. So let us ask Jehovah to help us find principles in Paul's test accounts to guide us in our case.

What was Paul's situation?

2) Imagine. Let's see ourselves in Paul's situation. He is in prison in Rome. Although he had been imprisoned before, this time he is sure that they are going to execute him. Some of his companions have deserted him and he is totally exhausted (2 Tim. 1:15).

What could Paul have done?

Pablo could have focused on the past and thought that if he had made other decisions, he might not have been arrested. He might have resented the men from Asia province who had abandoned him and become distrustful of his other friends. But he didn't do any of that. Why was he able to keep trusting his friends and Jehovah?
