Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

Jehovah will sustain him when he is sick in bed (Ps. 41:3).
It's not easy to stay positive when you're sick, especially if it's a chronic illness. Therefore, let us seek Jehovah's help. Sure, he's not going to miraculously heal us today, but what he does do is comfort us and give us the strength we need to endure (Ps. 94:19). How does he do it? He may encourage some brothers to offer to help with the housework. He can also encourage our brothers to pray with us. He can even remind us of comforting insights from His Word, such as the wonderful hope of enjoying a perfect life without pain and disease in the new world (Rom. 15:4). Now, we may not be able to do as much as we would like in the ministry. A sister named Laurel spent 37 years in an iron lung. Besides, he went through cancer and several major operations, and suffered from various chronic skin diseases. But he never stopped preaching. She witnessed to the nurses and aides who came to attend to her at her home. She helped at least 17 people become Jehovah's Witnesses. w20.12 24 para. 9; 25 para. 12
How did one brother overcome discouragement?
Due to health problems, a brother from France named Hugues had to stop being an elder. He couldn't even attend to the simplest chores around his house. He writes: “At first, I broke down and felt like I was useless. But over time I learned to accept my limitations and be happy with what I could do in my service to Jehovah. I'm not going to give up. I am like Gideon and his 300 men: though I am weary, I will continue to fight” (Judges 8:4).
What does the example of the angels teach us?
Faithful angels are also a good example. On one occasion, Jehovah asked the angels for suggestions on how to deceive wicked King Ahab. Several of them came up with ideas, but Jehovah chose one of them and told him that his would work.—1 Kings 22:19-22. Did others get discouraged and think: “Why did I say anything?”? There is nothing to indicate that this was the case. The angels are truly humble and want Jehovah to take all the credit (Judges 13:16-18; Rev. 19:10).
What should we do if we are discouraged because we do not have a certain responsibility or assignment?
Let us be very clear that the greatest honor we can have is to be Jehovah's Witnesses and preach the Kingdom. Responsibilities and assignments come and go. But what makes us really valuable to Jehovah and to our brothers is not that, but humility and modesty. So let us pray to Jehovah to help us continue to maintain these qualities. Let us meditate on all the good examples of humility and modesty that are in the Bible, and gladly serve our brothers in whatever is within our reach (Ps. 138:6; 1 Pet. 5:5).
