Watchtower Study, Why We Attend the Memorial, March 21-27, 2022, Comments and Responses.

1, 2. (a) When do we especially remember a loved one who has died?

We always remember him, but especially every time the anniversary of his death arrives.

b) What did Jesus establish the night before he died?

Jesus established a special dinner, known as the Lord's Supper and gave the mandate: "keep remembering this occasion in memory of him":

3. What will we see in this article?

We will look at several reasons why the small group that will go to heaven and the large group that hope to live on earth want to attend the Memorial every year. We will also discuss why it benefits us to be present.

WHY THE ANOINTED ATTEND

4. Why do the anointed ones of the bread and wine participate in the Memorial?

The anointed partake of the bread and wine because they are part of the two covenants that Jesus spoke to his 11 faithful apostles, the day he established this special dinner where he told them to eat and drink. In Luke 22:19,20 and 28,30 Jesus speaks of those covenants: the new covenant and the Kingdom covenant. In addition, in Revelation 14:1 it says that there are 144,000 who will become kings and priests in heaven together with Jesus, that is, it is a limited group, that is why only they can participate in the bread and wine in the commemoration.

5. What do the anointed know about the hope they have received?

The anointed know that they must reflect much on the special hope they have received, which is: to enjoy immortal and incorruptible life in heaven, to serve beside the glorified Jesus Christ together with the other 144,000 and, above all, to be in the very presence of Jehovah.

WHY THE OTHER SHEEP ATTEND

6. Why do the other sheep attend the Memorial every year?

We of the other sheep attended as "observers." We consider it a great privilege to be invited "to be present at this meeting and to observe what is done," so we happily attend every year.

7. Why do the other sheep want to hear the Memorial talk?

Because this speech helps us reflect on our hope, furthermore, it is highlighted that it is under the direction and help of the King, Jesus Christ and the 144,000 heavenly rulers that we will transform the Earth into a Paradise and that obedient humanity will reach perfection. .

8. For what other reason do the other sheep attend the Memorial?

Because we want to show our love and support for the anointed. In that way, we are part of what the Bible foretold that the anointed and we would be very close.

9. According to the prophecy of Zechariah 8:23, how do the other sheep feel about the anointed ones?

We have “a loyal attachment to them,” as Zechariah 8:23 says, “holding fast” to the anointed ones and uniting with them in pure worship of Jehovah, so we join them on Memorial night.

10. What has Jehovah done to bring about the fulfillment of the prophecy at Ezekiel 37:15-19, 24, 25?

This prophecy talks about two sticks and says that Jehovah would unite them so that they would become "one stick." So, in fulfillment of this prophecy, Jehovah has caused the anointed ones and us of the other sheep to work in total unity. So each year we attend the Memorial, not as two separate groups, but as "one flock, under one Shepherd and King Jesus Christ."

11. How do the “sheep” mentioned at Matthew 25:31-36, 40 especially support Christ’s brothers?

As this prophecy says, we do so by faithfully helping them fulfill their enormous responsibility: to preach and teach the Good News of the Kingdom worldwide.

12, 13. In what other ways do the other sheep support Christ's brothers?

Another way to support the brothers of Christ is: by participating fully in the worldwide campaign to invite interested persons to attend the Memorial, and also, by participating wholeheartedly, in making the necessary preparations for such an occasion.

WHY WE ALL ATTEND

14. How have Jehovah and Jesus shown their immense love for us?

As John 3:16 says, "Jehovah showed his love in an outstanding way when he was willing to send his son to suffer and die for us." And in John 15:13, he says that "Jesus showed his great love by being willing to lay down his life for his friends."

15. Why are the anointed ones and the other sheep so grateful for the ransom gift?

The anointed value and appreciate the ransom because it makes their hope possible, so they demonstrate faith in Christ's sacrifice, and Jehovah declares them righteous and adopts them as his children. And in the case of us, the other sheep, we value and appreciate the ransom because, thanks to our faith in Christ, we can count on Jehovah's approval, we give him sacred services and we come out alive from “the great tribulation”.

16. Why else do we attend the Memorial?

Because we are obedient to the command of Jesus, who established the Memorial celebration and said, “Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”

WHY IT BENEFITS US ALL TO BE PRESENT

17. Why does attending the Memorial bring us closer to Jehovah?

Because this special event makes us meditate, reflect on the hope that Jehovah has given us and we realize the deep love that he has for us. This gives us plenty of reason to love Jehovah and want to be closer to him.

18. What effect does meditating on the example of Jesus have on us?

As we review and meditate on the Bible's accounts of Jesus' last week on earth, his death, and his resurrection, it has a good effect on us because it motivates us and compels us "to walk on as he walked."

19. What must we do to continue in the love of God?

To continue in the love of God we must: be determined to obey Jehovah in everything, sanctify his name and rejoice his heart.

20. What good reasons do we have for attending the Memorial?

We attend the commemoration because of the great love we have for Jehovah and Jesus. We are grateful for the sign of the greatest love that exists, which is: the fact that Jehovah gave the life of his son to rescue us. We also feel great love for Jesus, who was willing to give his life for each one of us.

WHAT WOULD YOU ANSWER?

What are some reasons anointed ones attend the Memorial?

The anointed attend the Memorial to partake of the bread and wine, since they are part of the two covenants that Jesus spoke to them about becoming kings and priests in heaven. Another reason is that it gives them the opportunity to ponder their special hope, which is: to enjoy immortal and incorruptible life in heaven, to serve alongside Jesus Christ and the 144,000 others, and above all, to be in the very presence of Jehovah.

What are some reasons the other sheep attend the Memorial?

We attend the Memorial as observers, we consider it a great privilege to be invited "to be present at this meeting and observe what is done," so we happily attend every year. Another reason is that we reflect on our hope: which is to be under the direction of the King, Jesus Christ and the 144,000 to help us transform the Earth into a paradise and that obedient humans achieve perfection. And, also, we attend because we want to show our love and support for the anointed.

Why is it beneficial for all of us to be present at the Memorial?

It benefits us: 1) Because it brings us closer to Jehovah. 2) Because he motivates us to copy the example of Jesus. 3) Because it makes us more determined to continue in the love of God.
