Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022
Friday March 18, 2022
The good news must be preached to all nations (Mark 13:10).
Today, we can preach freely in many places. If we live in a country where there is religious freedom, let us ask ourselves: “Am I making the most of it?” In these last days, Jehovah's organization is engaged in the greatest preaching and teaching campaign of all time. How exciting, and how many opportunities to work more we servants of Jehovah have! If we live in a period of peace, how can we take advantage of it? (2 Tim. 4:2). Let's analyze our circumstances. Let us think about whether we or a member of our family could do more in preaching or even pioneer. This is not the time to accumulate money and material things, which will ultimately be lost in the great tribulation (Prov. 11:4; Matt. 6:31-33; 1 John 2:15-17). Many publishers have learned another language to preach and teach others.
How did Jehovah use his power to help Asa?
Let's go back to the days of Asa. The peace enjoyed by the nation of Judah came to an end, as an Ethiopian army of a million soldiers came to attack it. Their commander, Zérah, was convinced that they would defeat Judah. But Asa trusted Jehovah. So he pleaded with her: “Help us, Jehovah our God, for we trust in you, and it is in your name that we came to meet this multitude” (2 Chron. 14:11).
Although the Ethiopian army had almost twice as many soldiers as Judah's army, Asa knew that Jehovah had the power to help his people. And Jehovah did not disappoint him. The Ethiopian army suffered a humiliating defeat (2 Chron. 14:8-13).
How do we know that the peace we have will end?
Although we do not know exactly what awaits each servant of God, what we do know is that the peace we may enjoy now will at some point end. Remember that Jesus foretold that in the last days “all nations” would hate his disciples (Matt. 24:9). The apostle Paul said something similar: “All who desire to live with devotion to God in union with Christ Jesus will also be persecuted” (2 Tim. 3:12). Furthermore, Satan is “full of fury,” and it would be naive of us to think that we will somehow be spared his attacks (Rev. 12:12).
In what ways might our faith be tested?
In the near future, the faith of all Christians will be tested. Soon "there will be a great tribulation." The Bible says that “from the beginning of the world until now, there has not been a tribulation like it” (Matt. 24:21). During that time, our relatives may turn against us and our work may be prohibited (Matt. 10:35, 36). Let us ask ourselves: “Will I be like Asa and trust Jehovah to help me and protect me?”
