Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2022

Treat older women like mothers and younger women like sisters (1 Tim. 5:2).
Jesus respected women. He was not like the Pharisees, who despised women, did not even speak to them in public, much less discuss the Scriptures with them. To the contrary, Jesus discussed deep spiritual issues with both women and men (Luke 10:38, 39, 42). He also allowed many women to accompany him as he preached (Luke 8:1-3). And he gave some of them the honor of telling the apostles that he was risen (John 20:16-18). The apostle Paul commanded Timothy to respect women. He acknowledged that it was his mother and his grandmother who taught Timothy “the holy writings” (2 Tim. 1:5; 3:14, 15). Furthermore, in his letter to the Romans, Paul sent greetings to several sisters and mentioned them by name. He was aware of all that these Christian women were doing and expressed how much he valued their work (Rom. 16:1-4, 6, 12; Phil. 4:3). w21.02 15 paras. 5, 6
What aspects do the authority of family heads and that of elders have in common?
The apostle Paul indicated that the authority of a family head and that of a congregation elder have some aspects in common (1 Tim. 3:4, 5). For example, Jehovah wants the members of the family to obey the head of the family and he wants the brothers in the congregation to obey the elders (Col. 3:20). He also hopes that householders and elders alike will ensure that those in his care have strong faith and feel loved and valued. And, like good family heads, elders help brothers in need (Jas. 2:15-17). Furthermore, Jehovah expects elders and householders to help others obey God's standards and “do not go beyond the things that are written” in the Bible.—1 Cor. 4:6.
As Romans 7:2 indicates, how is the authority of householders different from that of elders?
However, there are important differences between the authority of elders and that of householders. One is that Jehovah has given the elders the responsibility to act as judges and cast out unrepentant sinners from the congregation (1 Cor. 5:11-13).
On the other hand, Jehovah has given family heads authority to do certain things that elders cannot do. One of the things a head can do is make rules for his family members and make sure they are followed (read Romans 7:2). For example, he has the right to dictate what time his children should come home at night, and also the authority to discipline them if they disobey (Eph. 6:1). Of course, before making a rule, a considerate family head will talk to his wife, since the two are "one flesh" (Matt. 19: 6).*
