What decision did Emma have to make?
Every day we make decisions that can influence our relationship with Jehovah, when there is a clear biblical mandate, it can seem easy to decide well. But and if there isn't, how can we make a good decision? And that is what happened to our sister Emma, because the decision that Emma had to make was that she received a wedding invitation from her niece, but the ceremony was going to be in a church that is why she wondered if it was it was right for me to attend.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
Something else our sister mentioned is that she had been a Witness for years and she was very clear that she would never enter a church to worship God, but she could attend a wedding since Jehovah does not disapprove of weddings, so we can see that our Sister was not very clear about what decision to make, because on the one hand there was her relationship with Jehovah and on the other the affection she felt for her niece.
Why should we not give our personal opinion on matters of conscience?
If we give our personal opinion on matters of conscience, we can make our brothers feel bad, because in the video our sister Emma commented that that afternoon she went to help a sister organize the menu for the next pioneer school, but sister he noticed that Emma was a bit distracted. So he told him about the wedding and the sister gave him her personal opinion on this matter, since she in an effusive way asked him, "If I was not thinking of going", proving to have a very firm opinion on the matter, But by doing that she showed that she did not fully understand the situation Emma was going through, although she appreciated her concern, felt that she was judging her, and that is something we should avoid doing.
What did a marriage advise Emma?
Emma went to visit Charlotte and Alan to ask their advice since, like her, Charlotte had accepted the truth many years before Alan and therefore they understood her situation well, because she wondered if the sister was right that it was wrong to attend to the wedding. Charlotte explained to him that when there is no specific Biblical mandate it is a matter of conscience, because someone's conscience may allow him to do something that another person does not. The important thing is that we make decisions that leave us with a clear conscience and to achieve this we must train it.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT
The couple mentioned the text of Hebrews 5:14, where the Apostle Paul wrote that solid food belongs to mature people who through use have their perceptual faculties trained to distinguish both what is right and what is wrong, but Paul not only wrote He also put these words into practice, he carefully studied the principles of the word of God and thanks to that he made decisions that left him with a clear conscience. So, even if there is no concrete law on a matter, we can always find a principle that helps us understand what God thinks. So Emma prayed about it and got down to business.
Where did Emma find the information she needed?
Emma searched the Watchtower publications index for articles and found some helpful information in the study guide in Chapter 2 of the Love of God book.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
He also read about how other brothers faced similar situations and what biblical principles helped them, then he pondered all that.
Through his study he made sure that it was Jehovah's spirit and not his feelings that guided his conscience and he realized that having a conscience educated by the Bible does not mean that everyone will always think like us and there is nothing wrong. bad at that, but if we use Biblical Principles to educate our conscience, it will guide our steps and so we can continue in the love of God.
