Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021

Barnabas went to help him (Acts 9:27).

In the first century, a generous man named Joseph (his nickname Barnabas) was willing to be used by Jehovah (Acts 4:36, 37). When Saul became a Christian, many brothers were afraid to approach him, knowing that he had persecuted the congregations. But Barnabas came to his aid (Acts 9:21, 26-28). Later, the elders of Jerusalem learned that Christians in Antioch of Syria, a distant region, needed encouragement. And who did they send? To Barnabas. That was a good decision, as the Bible says that Barnabas “encouraged everyone to remain loyal to the Lord firmly and sincerely” (Acts 11: 22-24). Today, Jehovah can also help us comfort our brothers, such as those who have lost a loved one. Or it might motivate us to visit or call someone who is sick or depressed and say something to encourage them. Will we be willing for Jehovah to use us like Barnabas? (1 Thess. 5:14). w19.10 22 par. 8

According to Colossians 1:29, what should we do if we want Jehovah to use us?

Throughout history, Jehovah has used his servants in many ways. In our case, what will make us become? Much depends on how much we want to work hard (read Colossians 1:29). With a willing attitude, Jehovah can cause us to preach with enthusiasm, to be good teachers, to comfort others, to be skilled workers, understanding friends, or whatever else is necessary to fulfill his purpose.

As 1 Timothy 4:12, 15 indicates, what should young people ask of Jehovah?

Are you a young man approaching adulthood? It takes the help of energetic men who accept responsibility and are ministerial servants. In many congregations, there are more elders than ministerial servants. Could you cultivate a desire to do more in the congregation? Sometimes some brothers say, "I'm happy just being a publisher." If you feel this way, ask Jehovah to help you develop a desire to become a ministerial servant and to give you the strength to do all you can in his service. --Ecl. 12: 1. We need your help (read 1 Timothy 4:12, 15).

What should we ask of Jehovah, and why?

Jehovah can make us what he needs to do his will. For this reason, let us ask him to grant us the desire to work for him and then ask him for the strength to do so. Young or old, let us use our time, energy, abilities and possessions to honor Jehovah now. --Eccl. 9:10. Let us never miss precious opportunities to do our best in your service because of fear or feelings of inadequacy. Whether we do a lot or a little, we all have the great honor of giving our loving Father the honor he deserves.
