So go and make disciples. Baptize them (Matt 28:19).
Many Bible students are baptized. But there are some who seem to hesitate to become disciples of Christ. They like what they learn but don't take steps to be baptized. We are confident that those who teach Bible courses want to help students put into practice what they have learned and become disciples. Jehovah wants people to serve him out of love. Therefore, our goal is to help students understand that Jehovah cares for them personally and loves them dearly. We want them to see Jehovah as “Father of fatherless and protector of widows” (Ps. 68: 5). When students come to appreciate God's love for them, they can be moved and their love for him deepen. So let's help students understand that our loving God wants them to have eternal life and is willing to help them obtain it. w20.01 3 paras. 7, 8
How can we help the student to respond well to problems?
Let's teach the student to face problems. Let's take an example. An unbaptized student Bible publisher tells us that a brother in the congregation has offended him. How are we going to act? Rather than taking sides, let's discuss with the student what the Bible says. We can explain that you have two options: forgive your brother or, if you can't forget what happened, speak affectionately with him to get him back (compare Matthew 18:15). Let's help the student prepare what to say. We'll show him how to use the JW Library® app, the Jehovah's Witnesses Study Guide, and the jw.org® website to find ways to solve the problem. The more prepared you are to deal with these situations before you are baptized, the better you will get along with your brothers afterwards.
What are the advantages of inviting another editor to join a course?
Invite other brothers and the circuit overseer to the course when he visits the congregation. Why? In addition to what we talked about in paragraph 13, because other publishers can help students better than us in some fields. Suppose the student has tried to quit smoking several times, but without success. In that case, let's invite a Witness who has overcome addiction, perhaps after several relapses. Maybe he can give the student some good advice. If we don't feel comfortable teaching a Bible class in front of a more experienced brother, let's ask him to do so. In any case, let us enjoy the experience of others. Remember, our goal is to help the student grow spiritually.
