Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021
Tuesday, August 24, 2021
He remembered us when we were sunk (Ps. 136: 23).
A young brother is diagnosed with a debilitating illness. A brother who is getting older loses his job and cannot find another, no matter how hard he tries. A faithful older sister feels that she can do less and less in service to Jehovah. If we have any of these problems, we may find that we are no longer good for anything. These situations can rob us of happiness, destroy our self-esteem, and damage our relationships with others. This world reflects how Satan views the lives of human beings. He has always treated us like we are worthless. With cruelty, he offered Eve the way to freedom when he knew very well that the punishment for disobeying God was death. He has always controlled this world. So it is not surprising that many of its leaders show the same lack of respect for life and the dignity of man. Instead, Jehovah wants us to feel good about ourselves and supports us when we go through situations that could lead us to believe that we are worthless. --Rom. 12: 3. w20.01 14 pars. 1-4
What can make us feel sick?
Illnesses can wear us down emotionally and make us think that we are no longer useful to anyone. We may feel ashamed that people realize our limitations or that we need help. And even if others do not know that we are sick, we may feel ashamed that we cannot do the same as before. In those moments of distress, Jehovah encourages us. As it does?
According to Proverbs 12:25, what can help us when we are sick?
When we are sick, “a good word” can lift our spirits (read Proverbs 12:25). Jehovah has collected good words in the Bible that remind us that he cares about us even if we have a disease. --Psalm 31:19; 41: 3. By reading and even rereading these inspired words of God, he will help us cope with the negative feelings caused by illness.
How did a brother feel about Jehovah's help?
Let's see what happened to Jorge. When he was young, he contracted a rapidly progressing debilitating disease that made him feel worthless. He says: “I was not prepared to face the feelings that the disease aroused in me or the shame that it made me go through because people looked at me. As my condition worsened, I thought about how my life would change. I was sunk, so I begged Jehovah to help me. " How did God take care of him? He responds: “I was having trouble concentrating, so I was advised to read short passages from the Psalms that speak of Jehovah's concern for his servants. I read those texts every day. They helped and reassured me. Over time, the others began to notice that he was smiling more often. They even said that my positive attitude encouraged them. I realized that Jehovah had answered my prayers. It had helped me change how I felt about myself. I started to focus on what the Bible says about how he sees me despite my illness. "
What can we do to feel Jehovah's support when we are sick?
If we have a disease, we can be sure that Jehovah knows what we are going through. Let us ask you to help us see the situation in an appropriate way. Let's turn to the Bible to find the good words that God has put in it for us. Let's focus on the passages that show how much Jehovah values his servants. As we do so, we will see that he is good to all who serve him faithfully (Ps. 84:11).
