Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021

The one who sent me is with me; He has not left me alone (John 8:29).

Jesus felt inner peace even when they persecuted him. Why? Because he knew he was making his Father happy. He was obedient even in the most difficult circumstances. Because she loved Jehovah, her entire life was focused on serving him. Before coming to earth, he was God's “master worker” (Prov. 8:30). And, when he came, he enthusiastically taught the truth about his Father (Matt. 6: 9; John 5:17). This work made him very happy (John 4: 34-36). We imitate Jesus by obeying Jehovah and “always having much to do in the Lord's work” (1 Cor. 15:58). The Christian who is "intensely busy" in preaching sees his problems with different eyes (Acts 18: 5). One reason is that the people we preach to often have more complicated lives than we do. But when they come to love Jehovah and learn to do what he says, their life improves and they are happier. Each time that happens, our confidence grows that God will take care of us. w19.04 10, 11 pars. 8, 9

With 1 Thessalonians 5:17 in mind, give some examples that show that Jesus prayed many times during his last day on earth.

(Read 1 Thessalonians 5:17). During his last day, Jesus prayed many times. When he taught his disciples to commemorate his death, he prayed one prayer before handing them the bread and another before handing them the wine (1 Cor. 11: 23-25). He also prayed with them before leaving the place where they had celebrated the Passover (John 17: 1-26). When they reached the Mount of Olives, he prayed repeatedly (Matt. 26: 36-39, 42, 44). And even his last words before he died were a prayer to his Father (Luke 23:46). As we can see, Jesus used prayers to include Jehovah in all the important events of that historic day.

Why did the apostles lack courage?

One reason Jesus endured is that he didn't stop praying for help from his Father. Instead, the apostles did not do the same that night and lacked courage when the hour of their trial came (Matt. 26:40, 41, 43, 45, 56). What do we learn? That we will only be faithful if we pray constantly, just like Jesus did. Now, what should we ask for?

Why will faith help us keep the peace?

We can ask Jehovah to give us more faith (Luke 17: 5; John 14: 1). We need it because Satan will put all of Jesus' followers to the test (Luke 22:31). Faith will help us keep the peace even when faced with one problem after another. Why? Because, once we have done everything in our power, it will motivate us to leave the matter to Jehovah. Confidence that he can handle it much better than we can will keep our minds and hearts at peace (1 Pet. 5: 6, 7).

What do we learn from what Robert tells?

Prayer helps us maintain inner peace no matter what happens to us. Let's look at the case of Robert, a faithful old man who is over 80 years old. He explains how he manages to keep the peace: “Throughout my life, the counsel in Philippians 4: 6, 7 has enabled me to cope with many difficulties. I have had financial problems, and there was a time when I stopped being an old man ”. And he adds: “I pray to God as soon as I start to feel uneasy. I believe that the more frequent and intense my prayers are, the greater the peace I have ”.
