Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021

Wednesday July 28, 2021

As these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, for your deliverance is drawing near (Luke 21:28).

There will come a time when those who witnessed the destruction of their religions will be enraged to see that Jehovah's Witnesses continue to practice our religion. This is sure to raise quite a stir everywhere, including on social media. The nations and their ruler, Satan, will hate us because our religion will be the only one that continues to exist. They will not have achieved their goal of wiping religion from the surface of the Earth. So we will be the center of attention. At that time, the nations will adopt the role of Gog de Magog. They will gather together to launch a cruel and all-out attack on Jehovah's people. --Ezek. 38: 2, 14-16). As we do not know all the details, it may be disturbing to think about everything that can happen. But one thing is certain: we must not be afraid of the great tribulation, for Jehovah will tell us what to do to survive (Ps. 34:19). w19.10 16-17 pars. 10, 11.

(a) How do we show that we strictly obey Jehovah's moral standards? b) According to Hebrews 10:24, 25, why is it important that we meet together, especially now?

First, we must strictly obey God's righteous moral standards. We cannot accept the values and norms of the world. For example, we do not condone any form of sexual immorality, including same-sex marriage and other homosexual practices (Matt. 19: 4, 5; Rom. 1:26, 27). Second, we must continue to worship God with our brothers. We do it where we can, both in Kingdom Halls and, if necessary, in private homes and even in secret. Whatever happens, we can't stop coming together to serve God. In fact, we have to do it “especially as the day draws near” (read Hebrews 10:24, 25).

What change is likely to be in the message we announce?

During the great tribulation our message is likely to change. Now we preach the good news of the Kingdom and try to make disciples. But we may then give a very direct message, which the Bible compares to hailstones (Rev. 16:21). We may announce that the end of Satan's world is imminent. Over time, we will know exactly what that message will be and how we will deliver it. Will we use the same methods that we have used for over a hundred years, or will we change them? We have to wait to find out. Be that as it may, it appears that we will have the honor of boldly proclaiming Jehovah's message of condemnation. --Ezek. 2: 3-5).

What may the reaction of nations be to hearing our message, but what can we be sure of?

Our message is very likely to cause nations to try to silence us once and for all. Just as we now rely on Jehovah's help in preaching, we will have to do so then as well. We can be sure that our God will give us the strength to do his will (Mic. 3: 8).
