Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021
Wednesday, July 14, 2021
These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and have washed their long robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb (Rev. 7:14).
Since 1935, Jehovah's Witnesses have understood that the great crowd in John's vision is made up of faithful Christians who hope to live forever on earth. --Rev. 7: 9, 10. To survive the great tribulation and "escape all these things that are destined to happen," these Christians must know Jehovah's standards and demonstrate strong faith prior to Christ's Thousand Year Reign. --Luke 21: 34- 36). The hope that the members of the great crowd have makes them happy. They understand that it is Jehovah who decides whether his faithful servants will live in heaven or on earth. Both the anointed and the great crowd recognize that their reward is due solely to the undeserved kindness that Jehovah demonstrated by giving Jesus Christ as a ransom (Rom. 3:24). w19.09 28 par. 10; 29 paras. 12, 13.
According to Revelation 7: 9-14, what exciting vision did John receive? (See the drawing on the cover).
In the midst of these critical circumstances, Juan had an exciting vision. In it, angels are ordered to hold down the destroying winds of the great tribulation until the final sealing of a group of slaves (Rev. 7: 1-3). This group is made up of the 144,000 Christians who will reign with Jesus in heaven (Luke 12:32; Rev. 7: 4). Next, Juan mentioned another group, so large that he exclaimed, "Look!" This expression may reveal your surprise at seeing something unexpected. What is it about? Of "a great crowd, which no man could number, of all nations and tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb" (read Revelation 7: 9-14). He must have been very happy to see that in the future there would be thousands and thousands of people worshiping Jehovah.
Why should John's vision strengthen our faith? What will we learn from this article?
There is no doubt that this vision strengthened John's faith. And it must strengthen ours much more, because the vision is being fulfilled in our day. We have witnessed the entry into God's people of millions of people who hope to survive the great tribulation and live forever on Earth. In this article, we will see how Jehovah revealed to his people more than eighty years ago who makes up the great crowd. We will also analyze two characteristics of this group: 1) its size and 2) its diversity. These ideas will strengthen the faith of all who hope to be part of that happy group.
