Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021

Some have been deviated from the faith (1 Tim. 6:10).

The expression "deviant" indicates that we can become distracted if we try to get unnecessary possessions. Our hearts could be exposed to “many foolish and harmful desires” (1 Tim. 6: 9). So let's not allow those desires to enter our hearts. We must see them for what they are: weapons that can damage our faith. But suppose we have the money to buy many material things. Do we do something wrong if we acquire things that we want but do not really need? Not necessarily. However, let us ponder these questions: Even if we can buy something, do we have the time and energy to use and maintain it? What's more, Could we become overly attached to our possessions? Could that feeling lead us to act like the young man who rejected Jesus' invitation to do more in the service of God? (Mar. 10: 17-22). It is much better if we lead a simple life and dedicate our precious time and energy to doing Jehovah's will. w19.11 17-18 pars. 15, 16

What things is it normal for us to worry about?

It is normal for us to worry about certain things, such as pleasing Jehovah and Jesus. —1 Cor. 7:32. If we have committed a serious sin, we care very much about regaining our friendship with God (Ps. 38:18). It is also normal that married people want to please their spouse, and we are all concerned about the well-being of our family and siblings (1 Cor. 7:33; 2 Cor. 11:28).

a) How can excessive worry damage our faith? b) Given what Proverbs 29:25 says, why should we not fear men?

On the other hand, excessive worrying can damage our faith. One of them is overthinking about having enough clothing and food (Matt. 6:31, 32). That restlessness could cause us to focus on getting material things and until we come to love money. Then our faith in Jehovah would weaken and we would suffer serious spiritual damage. --Mark 4:19; 1 Tim. 6:10. We could also be overly concerned with gaining the approval of others. That could result in us coming to fear mockery or persecution more than displeasing God. How will we protect ourselves from this danger? Pleading with Jehovah to give us the faith and courage we need (read Proverbs 29:25; Luke 17: 5).
