Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021

Monday, July 26, 2021

May we be able to comfort with the comfort we receive from God those who are undergoing any kind of trial (2 Cor. 1: 4).

We do not have to rummage for brothers in need of comfort. But we must find ways to alleviate the suffering of others despite our fears. For example, we may be afraid of not knowing what to say or what to do for someone who is suffering. Still, there is no doubt that our interest in others can do a lot of good. The closer we get to the end of this system, the worse the situation in the world will be and the more difficult life will be in it (2 Tim. 3:13). Furthermore, we are imperfect and will continue to make mistakes. For all this, we will continue to need comfort. The apostle Paul was able to endure faithful until the end of his life thanks in part to the encouragement he received from his brothers. By following his example, we will also help our brothers to be faithful to Jehovah. --1 Thess. 3: 2, 3. w20.01 12, 13 pars. 17-19.

How does 2 Timothy 4:11 show that Paul valued Mark's faithful service?

Marcos and Pablo became close friends. Why do we say it? When the apostle was imprisoned for the last time in Rome, around the year 65, he wrote his second letter to Timothy. In it, he asked Timothy to go to Rome and take Mark with him (2 Tim. 4:11). There is no doubt that he valued the faithful service that Marcos had rendered, and so he asked her to be with him in those decisive moments. Marcos helped him in various ways, perhaps by bringing him food or writing supplies. The support and encouragement Paul received surely helped him endure in the days leading up to his execution.

What does Matthew 7:12 teach us about helping others?

(Read Matthew 7:12). When we go through difficulties, we heartily appreciate the help that is given to us. Ryan, who suddenly lost his father in a tragic accident, says: “There are many routine things that you find impossible to do when you are in pain. The help that others give you means a lot to you, even if it seems insignificant ”.

If we are observant, we will see ways to help. Let's go back to the case of Peter and Kathryn, mentioned in paragraph 6. A sister decided to help them get to their medical appointments. Since neither of them was able to drive again, the sister set up a schedule for the brothers in the congregation who had volunteered to take them in turns to see the doctor. Which it was the result? Kathryn says, "We felt like a weight was being lifted from us." Let us never downplay how much our simple gestures of kindness can bring relief to the sufferer.

What important lesson can we learn from Mark's example?

Let's go back to the example of Marcos, from the first century. There is no doubt that he was very busy. He had received important assignments from Jehovah, such as writing a Gospel. In spite of everything, he took time to comfort Pablo, and he had the confidence to ask for his help. Angela, who lost a relative in a violent death, appreciated that those who consoled her had this same disposition. He says, “When brothers really want to help you, it's easy to talk to them. They do not hesitate to help you or do it reluctantly ”. Therefore, let us ask ourselves: "Do others think of me that I am always ready to console my brothers?"
