Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021

My yoke is light and my burden is light (Matt. 11:30).

Satan crushes people with burdens they cannot carry. For example, he wants us to believe that Jehovah does not forgive our sins and that we do not deserve to be loved. This is a horrible and heartbreaking lie (John 8:44). When we draw near to Christ, we receive the forgiveness of our sins (Matt. 11:28). And the truth is that Jehovah loves us very much (Rom. 8:32, 38, 39). The burden that Jesus invites us to carry is different from other burdens that we must bear. For example, at the end of a workday, many of us not only feel exhausted, but also dissatisfied. Instead, serving Jehovah and Christ brings us deep satisfaction. We may feel very tired and have to push ourselves to go to the meeting. But don't we return home comforted and energized? The same is true when we make the effort to go out preaching or to have our personal study. The reward we receive is worth the effort we put in. w19.09 20 par. 1; 23, 24 paras. 15, 16

Why were humble people drawn to Jesus? What questions should we ask ourselves?

Humble people were drawn to Jesus (Matt. 19:13, 14; Luke 7:37, 38). Why? Let's think about how different he was from the Pharisees. Those religious leaders were cold and arrogant (Matt. 12: 9-14). Instead, Jesus was loving and humble. The Pharisees were ambitious and boasted of their high position in society, while Jesus taught his followers to reject ambition, to be humble, and to serve others (Matt. 23: 2, 6-11). The Pharisees dominated people by intimidating them (John 9:13, 22). In contrast to them, Jesus comforted them with his loving acts and kind words.

Have we learned these lessons from Jesus? Let us ask ourselves: “Am I known as a gentle and humble person? Am I willing to do minor tasks to serve others? Do I treat people with kindness?

What environment did Jesus create?

Jesus created a peaceful and welcoming environment for his followers, and he enjoyed empowering them (Luke 10: 1, 19-21). He encouraged them to ask him questions and was interested in hearing his opinion (Matt. 16: 13-16). Plants grown in a greenhouse flourish and bear fruit. Similarly, in the environment that Jesus created, his disciples learned the lessons he taught them and produced good works.
