Let's Examine the Scriptures Every Day 2021

Thursday, July 1, 2021

Make your requests known to God (Philippians 4: 6).

A cause for concern may be that someone speaks to us or treats us badly, especially if it is a good friend or family member. Hannah's example can help us, as her husband's second wife made fun of her (1 Sam. 1:12). Like Hannah, we too can speak at length to Jehovah about our worries and fears. Sentences don't have to be poetic or have a perfect structure. We may even express ourselves bitterly and sob. But Jehovah will never tire of listening to us. In addition to talking to him about our difficulties, we should remember the advice we found in Philippians 4: 6, 7. There, the apostle Paul specifically said that we should thank God as we pray. We have many reasons to do so, including the gift of life, his creations, his loyal love and the wonderful hope he has given us. w20.02 21 pars. 3, 6

What things can cause us concern, and what effect can this have on us?

Have we ever felt worry creep up on us? * Perhaps the reason was that someone said or did something that hurt us. Or it may be that what torments us is what we have said or done. Perhaps we have committed a sin and are concerned that Jehovah will never forgive us. Also, we may think that we feel this way because we have no faith, because we are bad people. But is that true?

What examples from the Bible show that worrying doesn't mean we lack faith?

Let's look at some examples from the Bible. Hannah, who became the mother of the prophet Samuel, had great faith. Even so, she felt very distressed because of the mistreatment she suffered from a member of her household (1 Sam. 1: 7). The apostle Paul also had strong faith, but “concern for all the congregations” overwhelmed him (2 Cor. 11:28). King David had such strong faith that Jehovah had a special affection for him (Acts 13:22). Despite this, he committed sins that tormented him (Ps. 38: 4). Jehovah comforted and reassured all of them. Let's take a look at what we learn from your example.
